Research Analyst, London  

We are looking for an exceptional, intellectually curious and diligent analyst to work in the London office as part of the Global Research and Strategy team. You will be a critical contributor specifically to our European research projects, also inputting from time to time to our global research initiatives. You will deliver best-in-class data analysis, research and insights across multiple sectors and geographies. You will leverage your skill set to research, analyse, interpret and disseminate views on structural thematic, economic, capital and real estate market trends in support of generating investment theses and supporting individual deals. Research and strategy are a core and integral part of the investment process. 

Responsibilities  

  • Create and maintain research collateral including slide decks, presentations, databases, scoring tools, etc 

  • Contribute analysis and material for regional and global research initiatives, including, but not limited to input to investment committee memorandums, market reporting, sector deep dives and strategic initiatives 

  • Engage in the business plan and annual portfolio review process, stress testing partner and internal assumptions 

  • Work alongside investment teams on prospective property acquisitions / dispositions, assessing macro, market and micro conditions, contextualising deals within a risk-first framework and stress-testing underwriting assumptions 

  • Support through data analysis and slide creation in the generation of proactive investment theses 

  • Communicate market and strategic trends and recommendations for internal and external consumption (where applicable) through engaging and interesting visualisation and/or succinct textual or verbal commentary 

  • Respond to inbound queries as it relates to markets / sectors efficiently and diligently to various internal / external stakeholders 

  • Build specialisms in analytics, mapping, visualisation, “alternative” real estate and demonstrate a continuous willingness to learn and develop new tools and skillsets that can advance research influence 

Qualifications & Skills 

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, geography, urban studies or a related field  

  • Preferred minimum 2 years’ experience in real estate research, consulting, finance, investment 

  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills 

  • Highly organised and diligent  

  • Intellectually curious mindset with an ability to see the “big picture” 

  • Demonstrable interest and ability in fusing the “qualitative” with the “quantitative” 

  • Willingness to understand and interpret megatrends and subsequent implications for real estate 

  • Willingness to follow and interpret political developments, policy, regulatory and legislative changes and their implications for real estate 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a “storytelling” ability 

  • Able to work across multiple workstreams and jurisdictions simultaneously and effectively  

  • High Microsoft Office proficiency and particularly in Excel and PowerPoint  

  • Experience with at least three of the following: GIS, SQL, PYTHON, R, SPSS, Excel Macros, Power BI, Flourish, Macrobond, ESRI, CACI, Experian and real estate data systems (e.g., RCA, MSCI, ERIX, Green Street Analytics) 

  • Experience or desire to learn and build expertise in alternative real estate such as self-storage, PBSA, industrial outdoor storage, cold-storage, data centres, etc
