The role 

Ignites Europe, a Financial Times service, is an online subscription-based source of news, business intelligence and analysis for the asset management industry in Europe. We are looking for a Reporter, based in London, to join the 10-strong editorial team. 
 
This is a unique opportunity to write independent, impactful, high quality journalism for a successful news service backed by the experience and resources of FT Specialist, and work within a positive and collaborative team environment.

This role is a 12 month fixed term parental cover position. 


Key responsibilities

  • Cover a beat and aim to research and write three to four original articles per week
  • Produce news stories and exclusive content
  • Generate original story ideas to be developed with the managing editor
  • Build and cultivate an extensive network of sources with an emphasis on meetings and phone interviews
  • Moderate webcasts and video interviews.


Required skills and experience 

  • Proven experience covering the asset management industry and/or financial markets in Europe, with strong contacts with asset management companies
  • Demonstrated success in developing original story ideas and source development
  • Proven ability to meet daily deadlines and write accurately, concisely and clearly
  • A passion for news journalism
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, hard-working, responsible, organised and a team player.
