Job Profile Summary

Working within Chaucer's Credit Control & Treaty team, the Reinsurance Technical Accountant is responsible for assisting with the accurate processing, reconciliation and settlement of insurance and reinsurance accounts. The role supports the timely collection of balances, reduction of aged debt and unallocated cash, and resolution of technical accounting queries across Chaucer's international and London Market business. 

 Job Description

  • Assist the Credit Control Treaty Lead in respect of inwards treaty reinsurance account matters across Chaucer Group
  • Assist with the timely submission and reconciliation of quarterly accounts, maintaining accuracy and data integrity. 
  • Support the collection and settlement of premiums and claims in accordance with contractual terms, escalating to Underwriters where necessary
  • Support the investigation and resolution of account discrepancies, settlement queries and unallocated cash items. 
  • Liaise with brokers, cedants, reinsurers, underwriters and internal stakeholders to resolve accounting and settlement issues. 
  • Escalate technical accounting, settlement and collection concerns where appropriate. 
  • Contribute to meeting KPI’s in terms of the reduction of aged debt and unallocated cash within Chaucer Group
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives surrounding processes in relation to the reduction of aged debt, unallocated cash and queries specific to proportional treaty accounting.
  • Assist in maintaining policies and procedures in relation to the role to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Assist in the reduction of data quality issues across the Chaucer Group, that impact credit control
  • Attend and participate in training sessions and other meetings, as and when required
  • Undertake additional duties as reasonably requested by the Credit Control Treaty Team Lead. 

Regulatory Responsibilities

Support the CSL and CIC Board’s to maintain a corporate culture, policies and procedures that pay due regard to the interests of CSL / CIC customers and treats them fairly at all times.
