We’re looking for a Compliance Manager to support our UK Electronic Money Institution (EMI) business and scale our Wise Account and supporting payments products. 

Based in London, you will work with a growing team of multidisciplinary specialists (Risk, Legal, Product, Treasury, Security, marketing) across the globe. You’ll help manage and strengthen the team’s approach to managing the regulatory risks, their governance and oversight.

Job Description

Payments advisory and growth

  • Advise the business on regulatory requirements related to our UK Payments and Investment products 

  • Handle escalations from first line product teams including check and challenge of regulatory analysis provided by our first line product compliance teams

  • Supporting first line to identify relevant regulatory risks

  • Reviewing regulatory changes applicable to our business 

  • Drafting regulatory compliance policies 

  • Challenging product implementation plans to ensure regulatory changes are implemented in a timely manner

  • Work closely with the wider regulatory team to manage our policy framework, regulatory engagement and reporting in relation to our business.

  • Work with the first line business owners to ensure findings from audits and monitoring and testing are remediated efficiently and effectively

  • Provide regulatory training and self-help materials to assist the first line teams comply with regulatory obligations and compliance policies.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of Wise’s business and get to know many teams across the company as you liaise with them to help them understand the regulatory framework and bring together the information that our regulators need.

  • Help keep compliance right at the heart of our business by helping the team understand and comply with applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Implement innovative and creative solutions with a technology and customer focused approach to help us achieve the Wise Mission.

A bit about you:

Our ideal candidate will have a regulatory advisory background, great communication and organisational skills, tons of motivation and positivity. More specifically, we’re looking for someone who can demonstrate they have these attributes:

  • Theory. Experience with regulations: applicable to Payments and/or Investment businesses such as PSRs 2017 & EMRs 2011, applicable parts of the FCA handbook 

  • Practice. You are able to conduct analysis on the UK Financial Regulations and provide comprehensive regulatory advice to the business

  • Passion. You are a problem-solver. You get a kick out of finding innovative solutions and collaborating with different teams to deliver a mission.

  • Get the job done. You have a sense of urgency and an ability to work well under pressure, prioritising, taking responsibility and and an ability to communicate priorities effectively to others

  • Communication. You’re a strong relationship builder across all levels of the business and externally. You have the ability to influence others and empower teams to strengthen their processes to mitigate risks

  • Travel. The role is London-based, but many of our teams are located across different office locations. You’ll be ready to travel if needed.

This role will give you the opportunity to: 

  • Grow your hands-on Fintech knowledge at full speed; 

  • Keep compliance right at the heart of the product development cycle, in a fast-moving environment;

  • Be empowered to identify ‘regulatory problems’ and take a lead in the solution design and implementation;

Some extra skills that would be great: 

  • Knowledge of merchant acquiring or CASS/Safeguarding regimes would be advantageous but not essential 

Additional Information
