We're hiring: Regional Sales Manager – Field Sales (UK)! 🇬🇧

📍 Location: London (Field-Based Across the UK)

At SumUp, we're on a mission to help small businesses thrive. Operating in 35+ countries, we empower millions of merchants with simple, affordable, and innovative payment solutions — from card readers and POS systems to business accounts and online stores.

Now, we're scaling our Field Sales organisation in the UK, and we’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Regional Sales Manager to build, lead, and grow high-performing teams across the country.

If you’re an entrepreneurial sales leader who knows the POS and payments ecosystem inside out — and you love leading from the field as much as from the strategy table — this could be your next big move.

 🔥 Your Mission

Lead and inspire:
Manage a team of 3–5 Territory Managers, each overseeing their own sales force of Field Sales Consultants (FSAs and freelancers).

Build from the ground up:
Drive recruitment, onboarding, and continuous development of field-sales talent across multiple regions.

Strategise and scale:
Design and implement go-to-market plans, route-to-market structures, territory heat-maps, and segmentation strategies.

Lead from the field:
Work side-by-side with your team on merchant visits — coach live, refine pitches on the spot, and model best practices.

Drive performance:
Own KPIs, dashboards, and commission structures, using data tools such as Salesforce and Tableau to optimise outcomes.

Collaborate cross-functionally:
Partner with People, Enablement, Marketing, and Product teams to ensure strong alignment and a unified go-to-market approach.

Be the UK expert:
Provide deep insights into the UK SME and POS landscape, competitors, and market trends.

Shape the future:
Act as a strategic driver under the Head of Sales UK — influencing long-term field strategy, headcount planning, and scalable team structures.

🧠 We’re looking for someone who:
  • Has 7+ years of experience leading Field Sales teams, including Territory Managers and front-line representatives

  • Brings strong industry experience from POS, merchant services, fintech, telecom, or other competitive field-sales environments

  • Has a proven track record of building and managing territory-based operations (routes, segmentation, door-to-door, channel partners)

  • Is equally strong in strategy and field execution, comfortable selling on the ground with the team

  • Is an excellent communicator, coach, and motivator — able to empower both full-time and freelance sales teams

  • Uses data confidently to drive decisions and performance improvements

  • Thrives in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments with high autonomy

  • Speaks fluent English

Nice to have:

  • Experience leading freelance or commission-based field teams

  • Start-up, scale-up, or founder experience (showing the ability to build from scratch)

  • Familiarity with the UK SME landscape and POS competitors

  • Strong knowledge of CRM/sales tools (Salesforce), dashboards (Tableau), and territory mapping tools

 🎁 What we offer
  • A high-impact leadership role in a fast-scaling, international fintech

  • Competitive base salary + performance-based commission structure

  • Pension: Auto-enrolment; you contribute 5%, SumUp contributes 7% (capped at qualifying earnings)

  • Health Insurance: via Vitality

  • Life Assurance: 2× base salary (MetLife)

  • Gym Reimbursement: Up to £40/month

  • VSOP (Virtual Stock Option Plan)

  • Learning & Development budget: €2,000 per year

  • 30-day sabbatical after 3 years

  • Field-based flexibility with full UK travel

  • A collaborative, purpose-driven environment shaping the future of small business commerce

 🚀 How to Apply

If you’re excited to build a high-performing field-sales engine, lead exceptional teams, and shape the future of POS and payments in the UK, we’d love to hear from you.

Let’s grow together! 🌱
