Regional Development Consultant - UK Retail Distribution

This is an exciting new regional role in M&G plc within the Life Assurance Division. We have a clear strategy to grow our market share over the next few years by launching new propositions to market and also further leveraging our financial strength and strong brand in the UK advisory marketplace.

The role is a field (home-based) Development Consultant role within M&G plc (UK Distribution).  The role covers a specific panel adviser firms (who have very good growth potential in our contestable and new proposition markets) in a wider geographic area than an Account Manager, aligned directly to a Regional Director and is part of a Regional Sales Team.

Level 4 Diploma in Financial planning (PFS/CII) or equivalent qualification is required as a minimum for this role.

Role report to: Regional Director

Location: Home based in one of the following regions -

South East/ South West/ Midlands/ North East/ North West/ Scotland

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and open-up new M&G plc growth opportunities with low & non-producing adviser firms in the defined geographical area/panel of accounts.
  • Grow premium inflow for the regional sales team(s) from said advisory firms.
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships at business owner and influencer level with a defined panel of quality opportunity firms aiming to integrate all M&G propositions into their client offerings, creating a common purpose and mutual value.
  • Co-ordinate resources to maximise opportunities with the defined panel of advice firms. This includes Sales Support, Specialists and Technical team and T&IO (Treasury and Investment Office) resources to support M&G (Life) Distribution activities providing visibility, access, and relevance for all M&G propositions.
  • Ensure all activities remain compliant with policy, legislation, and risk appetite.
  • To build relationships with external platform in the defined geography.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive experience in the Financial Advice sector & experience of regulated sales environments.
  • Level 4 Diploma (PFS/CII) or equivalent qualification (as a minimum).
  • Highly attuned questioning & listening skills.
  • Consultative and value-based selling.
  • Negotiation and influencing.
  • Analysis & problem-solving.
  • Strategic perspective.
  • Account Management theory knowledge and practical experience
  • Evidence of previous success of being able to open-up non-supporting/’colder’ accounts to drive new business inflows and build long-standing & successful business relationships.
  • Strong working knowledge of industry best practice, good network/links with external bodies and individuals on the same field.
  • Strong knowledge of life and pensions products, markets, and competitors.
  • Good knowledge of financial services regulatory and legislative frameworks.
  • Knowledge and experience in the Wealth, Platform and MPS (Model Portfolio Services) markets.
  • Strong risk and compliance understanding and awareness.
  • Compliance with all relevant policies, including mandatory training and CPD (Continuing Professional Development).  
  • Valid UK driving license and travel required
