Regional Business Development Director - Europe (m/f/d)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Regional Business Development Director will be assigned to a major product area as the lead business expert for a specific geographic region. The key function of the Business Development Director is to create and execute the target pursuit process for new business, assist in future product development and sales planning as well as assist in acquisitions, partnerships, reorganizations or divestitures for the region as needed.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Collection and analysis of customer insights, competitor intelligence, product trends and industry developments in support of Magna’s current and future product planning and forecasting.
- Assessment of market needs for new products, processes and technologies, and development of strategic recommendations to enhance Magna’s regional capabilities for products, processes and techniques in pursuit of new business opportunities.
- Development and evaluation of business cases to achieve new growth objectives, including target identification, financial modeling, greenfield/brownfield assessments, investment needs, and risk and impact assessments.
- Development and maintenance of relationships with regional OEM customers, suppliers and divisions that support Magna’s ability to be successful, including specific engagement with OEM engineering, purchasing and planning groups to understand technology and supply needs.
- Implementation of the regional strategy for commercialization of top innovations, along with guidance of new developments toward commercial opportunities.
- Development and execution, in conjunction with Sales & Marketing Resources and the relevant divisions, of a successful strategy for pursuing new business targets in line with the business plan.
- Coordination with Sales to maintain a clear view of upcoming RFQs and customer strategies in support of advanced planning and quotation preparation.
- Support, in conjunction with Corporate Development, of M&A and greenfield development and planning activities, including monitoring and researching potential targets, coordination of due diligence processes, and coordination of greenfield/brownfield planning.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance or related field; Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA desirable; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience/Knowledge:
- 8+ years of related experience (engineering and business) and strong technical presentation experience.
SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual preferred (English and Regional Language).
- Excellent business acumen with a strong understanding of commercial and operational drivers within the automotive industry.
- Ability to develop and evaluate business cases.
- Strong communication and persuasion skills.
- Strong ability to coordinate cross-functional activities and foster effective interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Methodical, structured and systematic working approach, combined with strong analytical capabilities.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure, demonstrating resilience, composure and a high level of stress tolerance.
- High degree of self-motivation, with a hands-on mindset and the ability to work independently and take ownership.
- Ability to think commercially, innovatively, conceptually and strategically.
- Time flexibility and willingness to travel.
