The R&D Project Manager will oversee project execution, manage risks, ensure compliance with governance frameworks, and build relationships with stakeholders in the R&D space.
- Accountable for project definition development and execution strategy
- Accountable for delivery to baseline scope, schedule, budget and execution strategy within Quality and Safety targets
- Identify and proactively manage project risks
- Status, progress and performance tracking against plan
- Active scope and change management, including internal and external stakeholder management of impacts
- Comply with company Project Delivery governance framework to demonstrate that basic principles of project success are in place.
- Build trusted and credible working relationships both within and outside the company including with R&D/Innovation strategic partners and the IP function.
- Effective people engagement and collaboration with cross functional teams, internal technical support disicplines, CCSL Leadership Team and strategic partners with emphasis on stakeholder management.
- Participation in and facilitate reviews for risk, cost, lessons learned, and work process improvements.
Requirements
- To be successful in this role a strong selection from the below knowledge, skills and experience will be required
- Experience in a technical discipline to understand the basis of the R&D development cycle from basic principle / initial concept validation, formulations proof of concept tests and validation.
- Degree level qualified or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable experience in supporting R&D programme delivery phases of industrial projects.
- Demonstrable experience in supporting the delivery of early-stage research projects and programmes.
- Project or Programme Management Qualifications are an advantage but hands-on experience, and self-development from that experience, are a must.
- Experience in research-type operations and government grant-funded projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Knowledge of project controls and project management critical success factors with demonstrated experience of how they can impact performance.
- Demonstrable experience in ambiguous and changing circumstances.
- Working effectively with globally dispersed teams and supply chains.
- Evidenced relationship building skills, especially remotely
- Proven track record of stakeholder management
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills – able to influence both with and without authority across remote/dispersed teams and create a sense of community amongst project and supplier teams
