Job Description
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Intern – Test Engineer reports to the R&D Director on the Communications Systems team. The successful individual in this role will learn from and work with experienced test engineers, gaining hands-on experience in wireless communications testing, including lab-based measurements, structed data collection using industry-standard equipment, and field-testing activities.
This internship is full-time, fully onsite, Monday through Friday, at Silvus Technologies’ HQ in the heart of vibrant West LA.

ROLE, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Perform lab testing using wireless channel emulators and other instruments.
- Perform field testing to qualify system performance in a practical environment.
- Participate in the generation of technical documentation and presentations.
- Opportunities to further engage, learn, and develop skills as projects progress.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- In-progress Bachelor's degree or in-progress Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other related technical fields.
- Basic understanding of Communication Transmission Methods.
- Hands-on experience with RF and wireless testing, including conducted and over-the-air (OTA) measurements.
- Basic familiarity with test and measurement equipment (spectrum analyzers, signal generators, vector signal analyzers, network analyzers).
- Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
- All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug testing.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, or similar scripting tools for test automation and data analysis.
- Experience developing and executing test plans, test cases, and validation procedures.
- Understanding of PHY/MAC-layer concepts and performance metrics (EVM, SNR, PER, throughput, latency).
- Ability to analyze test results, identify root causes, and provide clear documentation.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Office environment.
- Outdoor environment for demos.
- Occasional exposure to heat, cold, and allergens while performing tests or demonstrations in the field.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to do the following:
- Lift equipment up to 20 lbs. for the set-up of demonstrations and testing.
- Perform bending and reaching movements to place items on lower and higher shelves.
- Kneeling or squatting to access lower shelves.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. when receiving incoming part shipments.
- Walking/Moving in the labs.
COMPENSATION: $28.60 - $33.80 / hourly [in-progress Bachelor’s degree]
COMPENSATION: $42.00 / hourly [in-progress Master’s degree]
