As a Quality Specialist, you will be responsible for operating the Quality Management System (QMS), writing procedures and processes to support the QMS development. You will lead and undertake audits across all areas of the business as well as across the supply chain. You will provide training and champion the Quality Management System and complete administrative tasks within the quality department. This role will be based at our South African, Cape Town branch.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Compiles and maintain annual internal audit schedule,
  • Ensures scheduled audits are conducted and coordinate closure of the findings,
  • Maintains up-to-date Policies and Procedures in a standard format. Updates may be required as result of Internal Audit Finding or any submitted proposal/request for change,
  • Present updated documents for approval by Dept head responsible, Quality Manager and Plant Manager for final approval,
  • Maintain Policies and Standard Operating Procedure content and coordinate the issuing of these documents via email, with instructions to plant regarding training requirements to fully implement,
  • Provide key users with updates and train current users on the changes to company quality systems,
  • Develop and track the audit plan requirements for each OEM and maintain the audit schedule to close out in conjunction with CQE,
  • Keep audit plan updated together with production forecast, with changes to new / existing products added,
  • Prepare and participate in annual Quality Management Review and monthly Business Review meetings,
  • Organize and participate in Quality System Audits with Third Party Certification,
  • Assist in the implementation of changes made to the quality systems,
  • Provide Quality System support to Engineering, Production and Receiving Inspection, Material Control and Safe Launch
  • Participate in analyzing data gathered to establish trends, systemic failures and alike,
  • Adherence and administration of budgetary requirements within the plant,
  • Use Formtek program to download and update latest drawings to the local server,
  • Monthly reporting on Audits and closure findings,
  • Day-to-day coordination of staff activities attached to QC department,
  • Collaborate with the procurement department to handle purchase orders for the quality department.

Job Requirements

  • Formal technical qualification or equivalent, B-tech in Quality,
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Manufacturing Quality function,
  • Knowledge of Process Analysis, Auditing, Quality Statistics and Technical Drawing,
  • Knowledge of quality systems,
  • QMS audit skills to IATF 16949, ISO 9001,
  • High level of Computer Literacy – MS Office, Oracle Knowledge will be beneficial,
  • Excellent problem-solving skills,
  • Good written and oral communication skills (operate at all levels),
  • Self-starter with the ability to work alone and in a team matrix,
  • Ability to assertively manage work and follow up,
  • Must be deadline driven.
