Hexcel is currently seeking a Quality Engineer for our Duxford, UK location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

  • Support Operations, Customers and Suppliers to optimise capacity potential and minimise inconveniencies.
  • Take a Primary role within ancillary tasks (including 5S, FOD, FMEA, APQP, LEAN, continuous improvement, etc.) as required and contribute effectively in cross-functional Quality improvement activity.
  • Champion / facilitate the resolution of internal and external complaints through effective and through RCCA using Global tools. Keep all parties aware of progress during investigations.
  • Liaise with all departments necessary (Globally or locally) to ensure the correct level of available support, test and technology is applied in a timely manner.
  • Routinely perform PSI’s and wear appropriate PPE in support of Company goals and objectives.
  • Undertake investigations, projects, and data/statistical analysis exercises for the department to support customer and business initiatives and quality improvement using Minitab, NWA, LIMS, or other recognised software / data packages.
  • Protect Hexcel Duxford through thorough, detailed specification reviews (Global, European, and local) to ensure we are protected as much as we can be legally, and drive towards sign off of any / all identified exceptions.
  • Support system and process reviews to ensure Duxford QMS is robust and opportunities for improvement are addressed.
  • Become an expert with Hexcel Products, Process, and testing, (within your area) with a view to assisting with problem resolution both internally and externally.

Qualifications:

  • Preferably the jobholder should have around 5 years’ experience of working within complex Quality Management Systems, within similar industry.
  • Exposure to project management and Quality auditing to AS9100 (& ISO9001) and awareness of NADCAP.
  • Hold (or be capable of reaching) a scientific qualification to Degree level (or equivalent qualification)
  • Understand the complexities, challenges, and expectations of the Aerospace composites industry.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SPC techniques, Statistics, Minitab, or other similar statistical packages.
  • Experience of working within a department that interfaces between globally linked sites and all levels of management is desirable.
  • Experience of using QMS software packages or other laboratory-based data base management system would be desirable.
