Position Summary and Responsibilities:

This is a crucial role within the Teledyne-e2v RF Power Division with responsibility for effectively and efficiently supporting both project and standard product engineering and manufacturing teams in the areas of Product Statutory Regulatory Compliance and Product Quality.

Compliance Focus

A key part of this role is to provide both guidance and support to the engineering teams such that all regulatory compliance requirements are understood and delivered for our products we place on the market. This role requires a good understanding not only of the regulations and standards to be applied and met, but a deeper understanding of how these can be met from an electrical and mechanical design perspective, therefore this role would suit an experienced electronics/electrical engineer that understands and has experience of these underlying principles.

Product Quality Focus

The role is to ensure that RF Power products, process and systems correctly work first time and every time, to the desired level of quality. Tasks will include, tracking, monitoring, and reporting of non-conforming products and processes and driving all Corrective Actions, Deviations and Quality Notifications through to completion specific to the product range they are supporting.

Quality Compliance Engineer role is to ensure that customer expectations are met or exceeded through effective monitoring and control, and in the event of escapes, to ensure that appropriate root cause investigation takes place, and that corrective and preventive action is planned, tested, and implemented.

The role holder will demonstrate effective communication skills will be critical to the success of this role, with the ability to influence peers and raise the bar in quality methods and regulatory compliance, along with a pragmatic and data driven approach to assist in prioritising improvements across the existing product portfolio.

Skills & Experience Essential Qualifications:

  • High level of knowledge and experience of statutory regulations, including demonstrated application of these to products being sold into global markets.
  • Determines compliance by establishing compliance test standards, conducting, and witnessing tests, performing diagnostic procedures, measuring performance, analysing and evaluating findings.
  • Explaining and defining compliance protocols and measures to stakeholders and relevant authorities
  • Ideally the products that the person has experience of will be electrical/electronic systems and the person may be looking to take a step into the world of product compliance.
  • Specifically, has experience of CE/UKCA requirements and directives, including but not limited to, safety, EMC, machinery directive, and hazardous substances - REACH & RoHS
  • Has experience in compiling, collating, and publishing all materials required for submissions for certifications, working with external regulatory agencies and other third-party accrediting bodies.
  • Has maintained company product compliance declarations.
  • Has worked with Engineers in new product designs to ensure all electrical, mechanical, EMC compliance is considered at the design and development stage.
  • Support and guide engineering for completion of safety assessments such as BSEN61010.
  • Mentoring project engineers in compiling relevant and adequate supporting documentation to support compliance verification by third party certification bodies and/or regulatory bodies.
  • Demonstrable experience in an engineering function in support of product development and manufacturing.
  • A working knowledge of electrical and mechanical assembly, manufacturing, test, and qualification.
  • Hands on with product, process, people, and customer.
  • A person with good communication skills who can sell and assert to a range of audiences internally and externally with the ability to work with all levels of the business.
  • An independent thinker, able to take an assertive stance to enforce the key requirements of quality/compliance and the customer.
  • Familiar with good quality management principles and working to ISO9001 as a minimum.
  • Carried out formal BMS ISO9001 internal audits as well as more adhoc reviews of business processes and performance of them, taking ownership of them to continually improve.
  • Supporting other Quality activities such as RMA’s, coordinating CRBs and QRBs.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a high level of self-motivation and creativity.
  • Problem solving experience (8D, A3, Root Cause Analysis etc.)
  • Has organised and facilitated customer quality audits.
  • Understands customer contractual requirements and expectations, ensuring we understand and meet these.
  • Review/ improve existing Quality assurance processes, organising and delivering training and communications to stakeholders in RF Power.

Desired Qualifications

Job Specific Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree/HNC in Quality & Compliance Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent level of experience. It would be advantageous for the candidate to have professional registration, such as IEng, CEng.
