About Nest

Nest builds care plan infrastructure for veterinary hospitals. Corporate veterinary groups use Nest to run preventive care memberships under their own brand, and we handle what sits underneath: enrollment, recurring billing, analytics, marketing, and seller-of-record compliance.

Care plans change how pets receive care. Pet owners pay a predictable monthly amount, visit more often, and catch problems earlier. Hospitals build steadier revenue and longer client relationships. Our mission is to make that kind of preventive care available to every pet.

About the team

Nest engineering builds the software hospitals use to run care plans, including Flutter web and desktop applications and FastAPI and gRPC services on Google Cloud. This is Nest's first dedicated quality role.

What you'll do

Hospitals use Nest to enroll pet owners and collect recurring payments, so a defect can mean a failed charge or a front desk team that cannot finish an enrollment. You will build how quality works at Nest: the test suites, the release checks, and the reliability standards. We expect much of this work to be AI-assisted, with generated tests that you review and maintain rather than write from scratch. The role rewards judgment about which small share of paths carries most of the risk. After a year, engineers will ship with confidence in the flows that matter most, and release readiness will be visible to the whole team.

Responsibilities
  • Build test suites for our Flutter web and desktop applications and our FastAPI and gRPC services.

  • Write contract and integration tests for critical APIs, including payment processing and PIMS integrations.

  • Use LLMs to generate test cases from specs, pull requests, and code diffs, and curate the output into a maintained suite.

  • Use AI-assisted exploratory testing to surface edge cases across app state, API responses, and UI structure.

  • Set up visual regression testing for our admin and hospital-facing interfaces.

  • Define error budgets, alert thresholds, and resilience tests with engineering.

  • Create defect triage workflows and quality reporting that show coverage and release readiness.

Who you are

We are looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements for this role. If you meet them, we encourage you to apply. Preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements
  • You have 3 or more years in QA, SDET, or test automation, with an automation-first background.

  • You use AI tools such as Claude, Copilot, or Codex in your testing work today. We will ask for specific examples.

  • You have strong Dart and Flutter testing experience, including unit, widget, golden, and integration tests.

  • You write Python tests for backend services, ideally with pytest.

  • You have built testing into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions or CircleCI.

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience testing Flutter Web with Playwright or similar, or testing Flutter Desktop applications.

  • Experience with contract testing or API testing frameworks.

  • Familiarity with Sentry or Datadog and with SLOs and error budgets.

  • Experience building a QA function from the ground up.

How we work

Nest is a small, fully remote team. Each person owns outcomes the company depends on, and the scope of most roles grows as the company does. We write decisions down, give direct feedback, and expect problems to be raised early. The work is demanding because hospitals and pet owners rely on it every day, and it suits people who want more ownership than a larger company would offer.

Our hiring process

Our process typically includes a conversation with the hiring manager, a working session based on the actual job, and conversations with the people you would work with most. We will tell you what each stage covers before it starts, and we close the loop with everyone we interview.

Equal opportunity

Nest is an equal opportunity employer. We make hiring decisions based on the work and the person, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic. If you need accommodation during the hiring process, email [email protected].
