The role:
As a Public Relations Specialist you will play a frontline role in promoting and advocating to press and media stakeholders for Frontiers’ as a world-class open access research publisher and open science thought leader. This is an opportunity to bring your research publishing knowledge, drafting skills, and networking ability to bear in a team and department (External Affairs) where we make a difference to the debates and polices shaping open science.
If you have the resilience to work on fast-paced media enquiries, the enthusiasm to win journalists over, and the knowledge to convincingly advocate to specialist press (research, education, and publishing) and top tier outlets alike, we want you. There are exciting VIP projects to contribute to.

Key Responsibilities:
- Tracking media coverage, relevant news stories, industry trends, and updating relevant stakeholders.
- Supporting proactive and reactive communications across the corporate news site and social media channels.
- Composing and editing PR materials including news stories, blogs, social, and digital content to promote external affairs messaging.
- Collaborating with internal teams to deliver ensure on message and politically astute communications across all channels.
- Editing and updating media materials, including media databases and intelligence, FAQs, and content planning calendars.
- Preparing and distributing press materials.
- Managing enquiries from the media and on social media.
- Researching opportunities for external affairs, stakeholder engagement, and content planning
- Supporting PR relationships with media outlets and reporters to strengthen Frontiers' local and global media engagement program.
Requirements:

Experience in research publishing and a strong understanding of academic publishing.

Previous experience in PR role
-
Strong organizational, proofing, and drafting skills for media audiences.

Familiarity with media databases and social media management.

Strategic thinking with effective stakeholder management skills.
-
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, with an understanding of research communities.

Attendance at our London or Madrid office is expected three days a week.
