They will be client-driven and passionate about energy efficiency and renewable energy.  They should be able to demonstrate good organisational skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritise work under pressure and complete tasks / projects within deadlines.

People are important to our business and therefore the ability to interface with other functions & disciplines at all levels throughout the organisation is vital. Additionally the Project Manager will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to collaborate & communicate successfully with Clients, Energy companies, & external teams, including engineers, architects, contractors and subcontractors.

The role will also require the willingness to travel across the UK to cater project demands.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum -  Engineering degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or other infrastructure / energy & renewables related discipline.  Direct relevant & related experience will be considered in lieu of a specific degree qualification.   
  • Chartered Engineer status with a recognised institution
  • A recognised formal project management qualification is desirable

Skills & experience required

  • Project Management experience, having worked on large multimillion pound projects
  • 5-10 years’ experience in Project Management / Implementation functions for infrastructure projects, ideally covering either solar, energy centres or battery storage facilities and associated utilities
  • Project management of Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) projects typically under the NEC or FIDIC form of contract
  • Strong project management and organisational skills with a keen focus on meeting client objectives and successfully delivering projects whilst meeting or exceeding project expectations in relation to H&S, Quality, Cost & Time
  • Good understanding of H&S within design and construction (inc Regulatory requirements)
  • Good understanding of Quality Assurance/ Control, throughout the project lifecycle
  • Project team leadership within a matrix organisation, lead on the building of office and site team to support allocated project.
  • Time / schedule management & planning (working knowledge of Microsoft project / Primavera P6 is desirable)

  • Project monitoring & reporting
  • Knowledge of ICP works up to 133/ 275kV, & 11-33kV systems is an advantage 
  • Good IT skills in relation to Word, PowerPoint and Excel and MS Project tools

Specific responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the delivery of specific project(s) depending upon size & complexity
  • Responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the project from planning / concept through design & procurement, into construction and through to commissioning & handover
  • Define, assemble and coordinate project resources and manage and control the project budget
  • Ensure the planning and scheduling of all project activities & timelines; tracking project deliverables using appropriate tools
  • Monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders as required
  • In taking overall responsibility Project Managers are expected to:-
    • Ensure that the project scope, goals and deliverables are budgeted,  planned and delivered to meet the Clients objectives & requirements (the "Project Brief")
    • Ensure the project meets the requirements of appropriate regulatory bodies, polices/procedures
    • Comply with Health, Safety & Environmental Regulations and adhere to Health, Safety & Environment Policies and Procedures to deliver a project with zero accidents.
    • Deliver the contracted scope
    • Deliver on schedule
    • Deliver to the budget
    • Manage change
    • Manage & mitigate risk and maximize opportunities
    • Deliver quality throughout the design, construction and commissioning phases
    • Optimize team / resources utilisation
    • Promote and drive streamlined communication
    • Build strong client relationships
    • Manage project administration

Supplementary responsibilities:

  • Support the operational (Long Term Service Agreements) side of engineering from a project understanding & knowledge perspective
  • Project Development - Support bid development teams with input in relation to construction and programme sections of proposals & in the preparation of estimates / CAPEX. 
  • Mentoring and coaching the project team to implement best practice & improve project delivery
