We are looking for a highly capable Project Manager to join us in supporting a key strategic initiative for one of our major clients. This role will lead the successful delivery of a structured discovery phase, ensuring the project runs smoothly from initiation through to recommendations and delivery. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage stakeholder engagement, and oversee all project outputs to support decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end management of the discovery phase, ensuring project activities are well-planned, structured, and delivered on time.
- Develop clear project documentation, including discovery plans, engagement strategies, requirements capture, options appraisals, and recommendations reports.
- Coordinate internal resources and ensure tasks are assigned with clear ownership and accountability. Facilitate workshops, interviews, and meetings (both remotely and in-person where needed) to gather insights, validate assumptions, and align stakeholders.
- Oversee the collection and documentation of business and user requirements, working closely with analysts and researchers to ensure accuracy and clarity.
- Track progress against milestones, ensuring all deliverables are completed to the required standard and within agreed timeframes.
- Produce regular highlight reports to summarise project status, risks, issues, and upcoming priorities for internal teams.
- Maintain a focus on outcomes and user value, ensuring the project remains aligned to its strategic objectives throughout delivery.
- Manage project risks and dependencies proactively, resolving issues and escalating where necessary.
- Act as the main point of contact for delivery leads, ensuring a clear line of communication between delivery teams and senior management.
- Support a collaborative, product-led approach across the project, embedding best practice in discovery and agile delivery methods.
- Proven experience managing discovery or early-phase projects, ideally within digital, data or technology transformation environments.
- Strong understanding of agile delivery principles and how to apply them pragmatically to discovery work.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust, manage expectations and facilitate collaborative working across multiple teams.
- Demonstrable experience producing structured project documentation, including delivery plans, engagement strategies, requirements capture and options appraisals.
- Confident facilitator, able to lead workshops, discussions and interviews to extract business needs and prioritise outcomes.
- Strong organisational skills with a track record of managing complex workloads, meeting deadlines, and keeping teams on track.
- Ability to identify, log, and manage risks, dependencies and issues, and escalate where appropriate.
- Clear and concise communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences, including senior leadership.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environments, adapting to shifting priorities and maintaining delivery momentum.
- Previous experience supporting public sector or regulated industry projects.
