Designs and programs PLC and HMI control systems for can-making production lines using Rockwell automation technologies. Responsibilities include electrical panel design, supplier and contractor quality oversight, inspections, testing, commissioning, documentation, staff training, punch-list management, and as-built drawing updates. The engineer also verifies electrical installations, supports constructability, responds to technical queries, and participates in post-project reviews and continuous improvement.
Job Description:
The Project Electrical Engineer works very closely and daily with PM&E’s Project Managers & Engineering Team and Business Operational Teams.
The roles key responsibilities and accountabilities are:
- Preparation of production line control designs, documentation, PLC Programs, HMI programs for can making line control systems utilising:
- Rockwell ControlLogix and CompactLogix PLCs
- Rockwell PanelView PLUS HMI
- Rockwell Powerflex variable frequency drives
- Monitoring quality of supplier/contractor work and answering technical queries to ensure they follow all Crown’s design engineering specifications and documents
- Undertaking pre-delivery inspections and testing
- Verifying electrical designs and installations and ensure constructability is considered throughout
- Commissioning line control systems
- Completing Commissioning record documentation
- Training operational staff
- Checking wok for completion and provides a “punch list” of items needing remediation
- Collate “As Built” drawings for all on-site modifications & variations
Participate in post project reviews for continuous improvement and standardisation
We are looking for someone with the following qualifications, experience and skills.
Several relevant years’ experience in the process equipment automation and control systems including:
- PLC control system design and programming
- HMI design and programming
- Electrical panel design, installation and commissioning
- AutoCAD
- Experience with industrial Ethernet (desirable)
- Experience with conveying systems (desirable)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Computer literate to include word processing and spreadsheets
Fluent in English
