Project Cost Consultant / Commercial Manager

Role Description:

As a Project Cost Consultant, you will contribute to the delivery of commercial management services for major infrastructure projects, including mobility and rail initiatives. You will apply your specialized expertise and experience to manage project standards in cost, time, and quality. Key to your role is building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring satisfaction and identifying opportunities to deliver value.

Role Accountabilities:

• Support the delivery of cost and commercial management services across major infrastructure projects.
• Develop robust cost estimates, budgets and forecasting models to help projects achieve their financial objectives.
• Provide commercial insight throughout the project lifecycle, supporting informed decision-making and value optimisation.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, particularly under NEC contracts.
• Analyse complex project and financial data, identifying risks, opportunities and actionable recommendations.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of commercial processes, systems and ways of working.
• Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and project teams, becoming a trusted advisor and valued partner.
• Support the successful delivery of projects to agreed cost, programme and quality objectives.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Professionally qualified or working towards chartered status (MRICS, MCICES or equivalent).
• Experience delivering cost and commercial management services within infrastructure projects.
• Exposure to major rail, transportation or mobility programmes.
• Strong understanding and practical application of NEC contracts.
• Experience across both pre-contract and post-contract commercial management activities.
• Excellent analytical, financial, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive, collaborative approach with a passion for delivering value for clients.
