Your Role

As a Gensler Senior Project Accountant, you will be responsible for financial account management and analysis for the Firm’s project revenue and business practices. Your success lies in being highly organized and passionate about ensuring the fiscal health of assigned projects throughout the entire project life cycle, from project due diligence through client invoicing and collections. You will lead a team of collaborative colleagues and partner with Gensler design managers to ensure our projects are financially sound.

What You Will Do

  • Work closely with Principals, Studio Leaders, Design Managers, and the project accountant team establishing successful business relationships and ensuring accurate and consistent billing and financial reporting at the project, studio, and office levels
  • Assist the US firmwide finance team on complex projects outside of the European region
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on a variety of metrics at the office and studio level to ensure healthy business practices; become a trusted advisor for matters related to finance
  • Provide training to Design Managers regarding financial maintenance of projects
  • Manage the financial aspects of key client accounts, including:
  • i. Review project work plans, budgets, and staffing plans to ensure appropriate fees
  • ii. Understand contract terms as it relates to fee management
  • iii. Assist Design Managers in performing project start-up due diligence and following Firm best practices throughout the project life cycle
  • iv. Forecast actual vs. budget spending and analyze projects to provide meaningful input to project and office leadership
  • v. Coordinate consultant invoices and payments
  • vi. Review project labour and expenses with Design Managers for accuracy and appropriateness
  • vii. Monitor Accounts Receivable and assist Design Managers with collection efforts
  • viii. Maintain organized project contract files

Your Qualifications

  • B.A. Degree, preferably in Accounting or Business Administration
  • 10-15+ years of project accounting experience in a professional service firm, preferably an architecture or design firm
  • Highly proficient in Excel
  • Experience with Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint software is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills, high level of accuracy, and keen attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively work in a high-volume environment under pressure with multiple tasks and strict deadlines
  • Willingness to embrace new technologies and constantly strive for greater efficiencies through process or technology
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work as a team and interact professionally with employees, Clients and Vendors
