Job Description

  

The RF Power Production Engineering team is responsible for supporting operational performance and major product development projects. This role is to support our HV Solid State Modulator product and includes everything from design for continuous improvement through to engineering build, production and customer support. The team provides comprehensive product lifecycle support, including prototype design and build, process development and integration, build documentation, and full production build through to post-sales and field support for both new and existing product portfolios

Main Responsibilities:

  • Production Support: Provide technical input throughout the production process. Collaborate with manufacturing and supply teams to address technical issues, identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Maintain standard operating procedures address product quality and supply chain issues.

  • Fault Finding: Conduct component-level fault finding and structured analysis to identify and resolve long-term production and performance issues. Document and report faults with customer-owned products, implementing improvements to resolve documented issues.

  • Continuous Improvement: Challenge conventional manufacturing methods to ensure continuous improvements, particularly regarding manufacturing cost and ease of manufacture. Develop and analyse manufacturing processes. Create balanced production lines and update configuration control documents.

  • New Product Introductions: Ensure designs meet DFM and DFA criteria. Manage required activities through the relevant phase deliverable gate of the NPI process, working with the BU Engineering and Project teams. Control the introduction of new parts and tools into the manufacturing environment.

  • Product Lifecycle Management: Understand the lifecycle of all component types, their sources, and lead times. Plan and control the execution of manufacturing changes from concept to production acceptance for process improvements and trials.

  • Safety: Support production with risk and COSHH assessments, acting as a subject matter expert for the product, components, assembly, and test processes. Support a rigorous safety culture.

Essential Experience/Competencies:

  • Experience in an engineering function supporting electromechanical manufacturing.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ industry experience.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with all business levels.

  • Knowledge of mechanical manufacturing philosophies (DFM/DFA).

  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical assembly, manufacturing, and test.

  • Ability to produce concise reports and effective presentations.

  • High level of self-motivation and creativity.

  • Independent thinker, able to work effectively in a multi-disciplined team to tight deadlines.

Desirable Experience/Competencies:

  • Knowledge of electrical and RF test techniques (beneficial).

  • Understanding of high voltage electronics and encapsulation.

  • ERP/SAP systems experience.

  • Experience in product safety risk assessments and mitigation activities.

  • Familiarity with CI, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodology, and quality tools.

Desired Qualifications

Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree or equivalent
