Why this role is important to us:  

A Product Owner (PO) is a Subject Matter Expert and acts as such within our organization. They are responsible for roadmaps, new ideas, new market segments and new offerings within their subject area and are expected to be innovative. Scoping and prioritization within a given capacity in their area are all part of the PO role, as well as ensuring compliance with the overall product strategy through collaboration with other roles. 

POs deliver to clients and own the client interaction needed to ensure satisfactory client outcomes. Managing estimation, refinement and client commitments are all part of the PO role along with ensuring delivery quality and commitment profitability. PO’s work with outcomes from end-to-end.  

 

What you will be responsible for: 

Team facing:  

  • Define strategy and roadmap within their area of subject matter expertise and communicate product goal and vision to teams.  

  • Using design sprints, user story mapping, and requirement validation to ensure that outcomes are broken down into features in the backlog.   

  • Ensuring Backlog integrity 

  • Prioritization of the backlog  

  • Supporting Scrum Team during refinement and implementation  

  • Feature acceptance 

  • Documentation approval 

  • Maximize output from team allocated capacity (e.g. cut/add/change acceptance criteria)  

Across teams and Product Areas:  

  • Contribute to strategy and roadmap with Subject Matter Expertise  

  • Facilitate system demos and involve relevant stakeholders – both internally and externally  

  • Cross-areas line backlog management: alignment, prioritization  

  • Managing cross area collaboration 

External facing:  

  • Define and Refine scope with client  

  • Estimating and managing Client Commitments / Prioritization of requests  

  • Understanding of client valuable outcomes 

  • Be the primary point of contact with the client for a Subject or client commitment.  

  • Establishing client partnership  

  • Understand the target market space and competitive offerings  

  • Expert understanding of user needs through interaction with client end users  

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather market trends  

  • Collaborate with external stakeholders and market events to gather trends  

  • Ensure the integration of features in marketing and web demo portal  

  • Conduct webinars, round tables, client demos, user conferences  

  • Produce outcome-driven material (one pagers, Q&As, etc)  

 

What we value: 

 Most importantly, you can see yourself contributing and thriving in the position described above. How you gained the skills needed for doing that is less important. We expect you to be good at several of the following and be able to - and interested in - learning the rest. 

  • A degree in Finance, Economics or similar  

  • A comprehensive knowledge in Fund Accounting area or high interest in acquiring it. Some Accounting knowledge in either investment Accounting or Fund Accounting.   

  • A willingness to contribute to the mentioned business area  

  • The authority to make “on the fly” business decisions on user story level  

  • Ability and experience with engaging with clients and internal stakeholders to seek input for user stories  

  • Proficient expertise  

  • Understanding of 3-Tier architecture concept and applying it when managing the backlog  

  • Great facilitator and listener skills  

  • Skilled at structuring your own tasks in a way that suits your needs  

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks – ability to work as Product Owner with development teams as well as being out in the market to “listen in” and resolve queries  

  • A constructive attitude combined with the ability to manage an unpredictable influx of backlog items  

  • The ability to understand the overall strategy and can convey it to team members
