ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Product Owner – Payments (SEPA / RTP / ACH) to join a strategic payments transformation programme within a leading global banking environment.

In this role, you will support the evolution of payment proposition for Real-Time Payments (RTP) and Bulk Payments, with a key focus on the Ellipse programme and the migration of SEPA payment flows to a new payment infrastructure. You will work closely with Product, Technology, and Business stakeholders to define requirements, support delivery, and ensure successful migration of payment services and customer journeys.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESProduct Ownership & Requirements Management
  • Define, document, and manage requirements related to payment flow migrations, including processing, reconciliation, reporting, statements, and advises.
  • Support the migration of SEPA payment products, including RTP, Direct Debits, and Classic payment flows.
  • Review and refine user stories and functional requirements with Technology teams.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to assess customer impacts and support client communication activities.
  • Ensure requirements are clearly understood and aligned with business objectives.
Agile Delivery & Backlog Management
  • Review, prioritize, and manage the product backlog.
  • Support PI Planning activities, including scope definition and prioritization.
  • Work closely with Technology teams to support delivery planning and execution.
  • Contribute to decision-making regarding timelines, dependencies, and delivery priorities.
Stakeholder Management
  • Engage business, product, and technology stakeholders to clarify requirements and drive alignment.
  • Support Lead Product Owners and collaborate across multiple PODs and workstreams.
  • Communicate product and process changes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships across global teams and support effective decision-making.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Product Owner, Functional Business Analyst, or similar role within Payments.
  • Strong knowledge of payment products and schemes, including RTP, ACH, SEPA Credit Transfers, and/or SEPA Direct Debits.
  • Experience working on payment migrations, payment processing platforms, or transformation programmes.
  • Understanding of end-to-end payment flows, reconciliation, reporting, and operational processes.
  • Experience working in Agile environments, including backlog management and PI Planning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into actionable deliverables.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have
  • Knowledge of SEPA regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
  • Experience within global banking or transaction banking environments.
  • Familiarity with large-scale payments modernization or infrastructure transformation initiatives.
  • SAFe, Scrum Product Owner, or Agile certifications.
