The Company

Imagine a world where every small business has the power to thrive. That's the world we're building at iwoca. Small businesses aren't just statistics – they're the heartbeat of our communities, the character of our high streets, and the engine of our economy. Since 2012, we've revolutionised how these businesses access finance, turning what was once a lengthy, frustrating process into something remarkable: funding that's fast, flexible, and actually works for modern businesses.

Our impact speaks for itself: we've provided billions in funding to over 150,000 businesses across Europe, making us one of the continent's leading fintech innovators. But we're just getting started. Our mission? To empower one million businesses with the financial tools they deserve.

We combine cutting-edge technology and data science with genuine human understanding to make finance feel less like a barrier and more like a superpower. Whether it's managing cash flow or seizing unexpected opportunities, we ensure businesses get the funds they need – often within minutes.

The team

The CRM team, known as Backyard Gardeners (BYG), builds and maintains Backyard – iwoca’s proprietary CRM platform. Backyard is at the core of how we serve customers: it powers account management, underwriting, and collections, and is used every day by the teams who deliver funding and support. By improving these systems, the team helps iwoca scale while making it easier for our people to give customers a faster, more reliable, and more positive experience.

The role

As a Product Owner in the CRM team, you’ll shape and scale the systems that sit at the core of iwoca’s customer operations. You’ll have scope to set priorities, collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to turn ideas into features, and use data and clear outcomes to guide decisions. The improvements you lead will increase the speed of our teams and the quality of service our customers receive, giving you visibility and impact across the company.

The projects

You’ll shape high-impact projects that influence how our operational teams work and how customers experience iwoca, such as:

  • Supporting new product launches: Shape the tools and processes that let Operations teams support new card products from day one, giving them fast access to the data they need to deliver excellent customer service.

  • Improving customer communication: Lead the optimisation of our Twilio-based phone system to support goals like answering 90% of calls within two minutes. You’ll influence routing logic and design tools that make it easier for teams to manage calls effectively.

  • Scaling backend systems: Guide the priorities as our Django-based backend evolves toward microservices, focusing on improvements that increase performance and scalability to support a growing customer base.

The requirements:

Essential:

  • Experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or in a technical role with product responsibilities.

  • Experience delivering projects end to end, from scoping and prioritisation through to release.

  • Ability to understand technical concepts, manage trade-offs, and evaluate new ideas effectively.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to challenge assumptions and identify practical solutions.

  • Clear written and verbal communication, adapting technical detail to different audiences.

  • Collaborative approach, working confidently with engineers, stakeholders, and operational teams.

Bonus:

  • Experience with card products.

  • Familiarity with user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles.

  • Numerical or technical background, for example a degree in maths, physics, computer science, or engineering.

The salary:

We expect to pay from £60,000 - £75,000 for this role. But, we’re open-minded, so definitely include your salary goals with your application. We routinely benchmark salaries against market rates, and run quarterly performance and salary reviews.

The culture

At iwoca, we prioritise a culture of learning, growth, and support, and invest in the professional development of our team members. We value diversity in thought and skill, and encourage you to explore new areas of interest to help us improve our products and services.

The offices

We put a lot of effort into making iwoca a brilliant place to work:

  • Offices in London, Leeds, Berlin, and Frankfurt with plenty of drinks and snacks.

  • Events and clubs, like bingo, comedy nights, yoga classes, football, etc.

The benefits

  • Flexible working.

  • Medical insurance from Vitality, including discounted gym membership.

  • A private GP service (separate from Vitality) for you, your partner, and your dependents.

  • 25 days’ holiday, an extra day off for your birthday, the option to buy or sell an additional five days of annual leave, and unlimited unpaid leave.

  • A one-month, fully paid sabbatical after four years.

  • Instant access to emotional and mental health support.

  • 3% Pension contributions and share options.

  • Generous parental leave and a nursery tax benefit scheme to help you save money.

  • Cycle-to-work scheme and electric car scheme.

  • Two company retreats a year, we’ve been to France, Italy, Spain, and further afield.

And to make sure we all keep learning, we offer:

  • A learning and development budget for everyone.

  • Company-wide talks with internal and external speakers.

  • Access to learning platforms like Treehouse.

What you need to know about the London Tech Scene

London isn't just a hub for established businesses; it's also a nursery for innovation. Boasting one of the most recognized fintech ecosystems in Europe, attracting billions in investments each year, London's success has made it a go-to destination for startups looking to make their mark. Top U.K. companies like Hoptin, Moneybox and Marshmallow have already made the city their base — yet fintech is just the beginning. From healthtech to renewable energy to cybersecurity and beyond, the city's startups are breaking new ground across a range of industries.
