The role: 

We are seeking a Data Product Manager to join our product team and enhance our Data & AI capabilities. You'll collaborate with data engineers, scientists, and machine learning experts to create reliable data products. At Frontiers, you'll work with top industry minds to develop cutting-edge AI-powered data products that drive a global publishing platform with over a billion views and 100,000 articles. This role offers the chance to impact scientific discovery in a dynamic, mission-driven environment. You'll lead the product development lifecycle, using your analytical and data expertise to guide our team toward exceptional results. The role will report to: Head of Product

We are offering a hybrid position in Madrid or London.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Backlog and Strategic Management: Create and prioritize data product backlogs, translate product strategies into actionable tasks, and ensure alignment with business goals. 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Facilitation: Liaise between business and development teams to align priorities, resolve roadblocks, and lead meetings to clarify objectives and track progress. 

  • Execution and Product Development: Ensure timely delivery of product priorities and collaborate with data engineers to design scalable data products. 

  • Data Modeling and Management: Build scalable data models, develop a unified data framework, and maintain consistent organizational data across platforms. 

  • Data Catalog and Logging: Create a comprehensive data catalog for documentation and accessibility and establish processes for data lineage. 

  • System Integration and Source Management: Integrate datasets with internal systems like CRM and Publishing Platform, ensuring consistent processing of acquired data sources. 

  • Stakeholder and Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work with stakeholders to develop access layers and proactively lead initiatives aligned with organizational OKRs. 

  • Data Analysis and Quality Management: Conduct data analysis for insights, improve product quality, resolve data quality issues, and implement long-term solutions. 

  • Presentations and Communication: Prepare and deliver presentations to convey data insights and product achievements effectively. 

 

Essential skills 

We seek enthusiastic team players with great initiative and a get-it-done attitude. Candidates must be able to handle a fast-paced work environment while juggling several different tasks at the same time. Excellent organizational, communications, analytical and multi-tasking skills are must. 

Essential skills and qualifications include: 

  • Working experience as a data product manager in a similar position 

  • Prior experience with cloud data platforms and data products 

  • Data savviness and fluency, ability to deep dive into raw datasets to find key information that will enable you to make decisions for the product (using languages like SQL or Python

  • Strong analytical skills and prior experience in this area 

  • Experience with software development and data processing pipelines 

  • Experience with Agile Methodologies 

  • Solid communication skills in English, both written and verbal are an absolute must 

 

Preferred skills 

  • Statistical analysis experience is welcome 

  • Experience with defining technical specifications describing requirements for data ingestion, transformation and storage, with attention to big data topics 

  • Ability to understand and challenge architectural data pipeline decisions 

  • Experience working a team of cross-functional people
