About the role
As a Product Manager – Lending, you will be at the forefront of transforming the way SMEs access funding. You will lead cross-functional teams to identify, design and deliver improvements to our lending products to help us deliver faster, better, more transparent lending decisions for our customers. Working closely with senior business stakeholders, you’ll help shape the product roadmap, ensuring our products meet customer needs, comply with regulatory standards, and drive business growth.   Reporting to the Head of Product, you’ll help establish a world-class product team and shape how we approach product discovery and delivery. You’ll implement best practices from the technology, banking and fintech industries, ensuring our product development processes are agile, efficient, and customer focused. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Vision & strategy 
  • Define and communicate a clear and compelling product vision, strategy and roadmap for our lending products.
  • Conduct market research, customer discovery and competitor analysis to understand customer/broker pain points and identify opportunities. 

  • Discovery & delivery 
  • Lead end-to-end product development, from ideation to launch and optimisation.
  • Map lending journeys to identify customer pain points and process inefficiencies, then deliver enhancements that transform the end-to-end user experience.
  • Translate business requirements into clear product specifications, then collaborate across functions to design solutions that deliver the desired outcomes.
  • Prioritise features and enhancements based on customer impact, business value, and technical feasibility.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products, at pace.    

  • Collaboration & coordination
  • Work with our ExCo and senior leadership team to define and deliver new/improved lending products and expand our distribution channels to accelerate growth. Partner with technology and business teams (e.g. marketing, sales, credit, operations) to deliver product, platform and process enhancements.
  • Work closely with risk, compliance, and legal teams to manage risks and ensure lending products comply with relevant regulations and industry standards. 

  • Performance & optimisation
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the performance of our lending products and identify opportunities for improvements.
  • Conduct Post Implementation Reviews (PIRs) and periodic reviews to ensure our products deliver good customer outcomes and comply with regulations.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience
  • 5+ years’ in Product within banking or fintech, with a lending focus
  • Leading cross-functional teams to launch and grow products that have solved customer problems and delivered measurable business outcomes 
  • In-depth knowledge of the SME lending market and customer/broker needs 
  • Collaborating with commercial, credit and operational teams to deliver seamless lending experiences
  • Working within a regulated environment, ensuring compliance with Consumer Duty and other relevant regulations
  • Working with Mambu, nCino or similar banking platforms 

  • Education & Certification: 
  • Degree in business, economics, or a technical subject advantageous but not essential.

  • Skills:
  • Excellent prioritisation skills to manage the backlog and focus resources on the most impactful initiatives  
  • Strong data analytics skills and knowledge of tools like Jira, PowerBi, Hotjar, GA, etc. 
  • Excellent organisational skills to get stuff done in a fast-paced startup environment 
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies and best-practices 
  • An eye for great UX/UI design to deliver delightful customer experiences

  • Enjoy talking to customers and colleagues to understand their needs and co-create solutions that meet them 
  • Understand the value of excellent product documentation and clear communication
