Job Description

Checkout.com is seeking a Product Manager to lead the Cost of Sales product team. This domain is dedicated to providing customers with transparent, real-time, and actionable insights into their network fees. This data is critical, as scheme and interchange fees account for over 80% of our customer’s total payment costs, making them the single largest driver of payment expenses. The successful candidate will provide cross-functional leadership across technology, commercial, and finance teams to enable our clients to understand and optimise network fees while building internal capabilities to predict and simulate those costs accurately. This role involves driving the strategy for how the “Cost of Sale Merchant Experience” will be developed from scratch and ensuring internal teams execute scalable, efficient processes. Daily responsibilities include understanding client and stakeholder pain points, making difficult decisions to prioritise development work, and launching new capabilities that will be tested internally to subsequently delight end-customers.

Hybrid Working Model: All of our offices globally are onsite 3 times per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). We’ve worked towards enabling teams to work collaboratively in the same space, while also being able to partner with colleagues globally. During your days at the office, we offer amazing snacks, breakfast, and lunch options in all of our locations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive the 6- to 12-month strategic vision for the Cost of Sales Optimisation Insights Team.

  • Identify new opportunities by developing a comprehensive understanding of clients’ pain points related to discrepancies in network fee calculations or increases in their cost of sales.

  • Lead the discovery, planning, and execution across the Cost of Sales product team.

  • Collaborate with Commercial, Fee Strategy, and Operations teams to effectively educate customers and manage communications and impacts related to network fees.

  • Productise internal capabilities around cost simulation and pricing calculations, scaling our data-intensive products across our entire customer portfolio.

  • Become the subject matter expert in the network fees domain, confidently discussing market trends and competition, influencing the organisation, and shaping its strategy.

  • Build strong partnerships with business, product, and technology stakeholders: buy-in and collaboration to generate momentum for mobile products.

  • Work with other product and engineering leaders to ensure alignment with cross-functional roadmaps that relate to the mobile world.

  • Gain a deep understanding of Checkout.com’s customers, be them end-customers or developers, and businesses themselves.

  • Build strong relationships across your network, particularly with engineering. You foster a team culture that upholds Checkout.com’s operating principles.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of product management experience.

  • Experience in payments is preferred, though full expertise in network fees is not essential.

  • Embrace complexity: You feel comfortable navigating intricate domains that require deep dives into details and processes which are not always straightforward, often involving ambiguity or incomplete information.

  • Athlete mindset: You thrive in fast-paced, data-intensive product environments.

  • Data-driven: Skilled at leveraging data and business insights to determine strategic priorities and drive the product roadmap and execution.

  • Customer-first: Think from the customer's perspective and can balance future opportunities with immediate needs.

  • End-to-end mindset: Think in a structured and diligent manner, understanding all key components necessary to drive the ongoing success of a product.

  • Leadership: Excellent at collaborating with stakeholders in product, engineering, commercial, and business teams proactively, demonstrating high EQ and influencing skills.

  • Effective communicator: Able to inspire others with a shared vision and simplify complex concepts for a wide range of audiences.
