About Apron

Apron is building something game-changing.

Founded in 2021, Apron set out to help SMBs win. Small businesses are the backbone of the economy, yet the systems they rely on (particularly around payments) are slow, manual and not built for them. The biggest threat to small business is cash flow, often stemming from a gap between the demand payments put on owners and the aptitude to make the payments effectively.

Apron changes that. We are closing the gap by digitising and simplifying the payments process: capturing invoices, issuing expense cards, paying and getting paid, all in one place.

We have grown fast over the past few years, expanding our team to circa 100 individuals across the UK, Germany, Spain and more. We are backed by Index Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, Zinal Grow and Tony Fadell and we’ve raised $50m.

The ambition from here is not incremental growth. Apron is building a category-defining, global fintech business with a clear path to significant revenue scale and international expansion. The next phase requires not just great products and ambition, but a world-class Engineering team.

The role

Apron's Bill Pay product helps businesses pay suppliers, run payroll and manage expenses from one place. Small businesses make thousands of payments every year and get nothing back for it. We think that's wrong.

So we're changing it. Rewards turns everyday business payments into tangible value (points, cashback, incentives) and we're looking for a Product Manager to own it from here.
As a product-led company, our PM's bring building, selling, and operating the product together. It'll be up to you to pull together everything required to ship and run a product customers love.

This role is designed to accelerate your growth. It's open to someone early in their product career, or looking to moving into a product role. If you're excited to have a lot of ownership while remaining in the details day to day, this could be a great fit.

What you'll do
  • Build a sharp, first-hand understanding of our customers and market through interviews, competitive research, and data, and use it to drive the team to the right calls

  • Get engineers and designers as close to customer needs as you are, so they can make great product calls

  • Own how new features show up for customers, from positioning to launch copy

  • Work across ops and support domains to make sure the product succeeds in customers' hands

What you'll need
  • 3-5 years of total working experience, of which 0-2 could be in product.

  • We're also open to consulting, engineering, operations, design or customer-facing backgrounds.

  • This role is ideal for someone looking to transition to product or accelerate their product career.

  • Deep curiosity about the world of small business owners and how payments actually work

  • Strong bias to action and ownership

  • Hands-on experience with varied data sets

What we care about:
  • Customer obsession. Talking to customers first-hand, not understanding them via summaries.

  • Ownership across domains, not handoffs. PMs make calls on commercial, ops, and risk, not just product.

  • Fast cadence. Decisions in days, not quarters.

  • Building. We believe outcomes ship from the people who own them.

What we offer

💷 Highly competitive salary + meaningful stock options
📈 Pension plan with Nest
🏥 Health insurance (including Optical and Dental cover), Life Assurance
🚼 Enhanced parental leave
🥗 Weekly Deliveroo allowance
🌴 29 days of holidays (on top of Bank holidays)
☕ Flexible working hours
📍 Hybrid work 3 days a week in our London (Liverpool Street) offices.
🚲 Cycle to Work scheme, Electric vehicle scheme
