Role: Product Controller 

Department: Product Control

Location: London

Permanent 

Overview: 

The Product Control department is responsible for the production, analysis, publication and control of official daily P&L for all BlueCrest funds at a Portfolio Manager, Desk and Fund level, as well as oversight of monthly NAV production and approval of distribution of statements to investors.

The department operates across three offices - London, New York and Singapore - with teams focused on both product control and valuation control across all major asset classes. Its overarching objective is to develop innovative approaches that achieve best-in-class control of the business.

Role Requirements: 

This role forms an integral part of the Product Control team focused on the daily and month-end P&L process. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Production of daily P&L across various trading desks, working closely with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and ensure timely and accurate delivery of the P&L.
  • Ownership of the month-end NAV finalisation process in relation to those P&Ls including valuation verification.
  • Ad hoc information requests from Portfolio Managers, management and external stakeholders.
  • Involvement in process improvement and broader Product Control-wide transformation initiatives.

Experienced Required: 

The ideal candidate will have either of the following profiles:

  • Product Controller or other product specialist with experience gained in controls department of a bank or hedge fund with demonstrable strong understanding of Fixed Income derivative and securities products; or
  • Recently Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA / ICAS) working at one of the major audit firms in any business line with demonstrable interest in Fixed Income derivative and securities products.

In both cases the following are essential:

  • Strong academic qualifications in a numerate subject from a top-tier academic institution.
  • Experienced user of MS Excel.

Desirable, but not essential, experience includes:

  • Experience of common Visualisation tools, ETL tools and/or Python.
  • Exposure to more than one asset class.
  • Knowledge of Valuation control / IPV processes.

You will be a self-starter able to work independently and prioritise competing tasks across a range of timescales. You will be excited by the idea of being a part of a best-in-class Product Control function.

Working across teams is critical, for which you will have excellent communication and influencing skills, and will need to be comfortable building strong working relationships within Product Control and across a range of other functions within BlueCrest including Tech, Quants, Operations, Risk and Financial Control.

You will have a growth mindset with a desire to continuously learn and to constructively challenge the status quo.
