Teledyne e2v has been trusted to design and deliver CCD and CMOS imaging sensors and sub-systems for over 150 space missions by the world’s largest space agencies, including NASA, ESA, JAXA, CSA and recently for the Russian-led World Space Observatory. We offer space imaging supply chain management, including space qualified imaging sensors, arrays and sub-systems for space science, earth observation and astronomy; helping solve the mysteries of the Universe and understanding climate change on Earth. We have an opportunity for a Product Assurance Engineer to join our existing Product Assurance Team reporting to the Product Assurance Manager.

Position Summary and Responsibilities:

The Product Assurance Engineer is required to provide support to the Business Unit, supplying high quality custom image sensors, Front End electronics and Optical Systems to external customers such as NASA & ESA prime contractors. Customer-focussed, the Product Assurance Engineer’s role is to ensure that customer expectations are met or exceeded through effective project planning (bid & execution) and control, and in the event of escapes, to ensure that appropriate root cause investigation takes place and that corrective and preventive action is planned, tested and implemented.

Working with the project teams and the customer, the PA Engineer will be instrumental in ensuring the design and manufacturing risk (in terms of quality) is identified, evaluated and mitigated through the demonstration of existing heritage and/or new design and manufacturing process validation.  In addition, prompt identification and prioritisation of non-conformance, ensuring non-conformance is managed with clearly defined containment, identification of root cause and effective implementation of corrective action at project and management systems level will play a key part in the role.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish and advise the product assurance and compliance to requirement aspects of new projects, products and plans

  • Underpin the design, test and manufacturing readiness reviews within the project lifecycle

  • Reinforce the assembly, verification, validation and test phases of the project

  • Flow down quality requirements to the customer and supply chain

  • Facilitate customer mandated reviews

  • Support a programme of risk based internal and external audits

  • Adopt the administration of co-authorise and close out permits, concessions and NRBs.

Skills & Experience Essential Qualifications:

To succeed in this role you must have…

  • Experience within a Product/Quality Assurance role, preferably within space, aerospace or defence industries

  • A background in design and production for electro-mechanical parts and systems (with assemblies, electronics and software experience as an advantage)

  • Knowledge of high-reliability parts and materials

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to think “outside of the box”

  • A flexible and adaptable approach

  • A structured approach to problem solving

  • Ability to lead problem solving teams

  • Comprehensive knowledge of MS Office

Desired Qualifications

Degree preferred however as a minimum HNC/HND in Electronic/Mechanical Engineering.
