Your new role

 

A rare opportunity has arisen to join Smooth Radio as a Producer, working closely with top talent on one of the UK’s biggest commercial radio brands.

The Smooth brand is enjoyed by an audience of 7.6 million people, and in this role you’ll help shape some of its most listened-to shows across the week.

You’ll be producing major weekend shows and supporting weekday output, working one-to-one with presenters in a busy live studio environment to bring standout content to air.

This is a permanent, full-time role, working Wednesday to Sunday in our Leicester Square HQ.

Key Responsibilities

  • Show Production: Devise, develop, and deliver compelling content for Smooth’s weekend shows, with additional weekday responsibilities.

  • Live Studio Collaboration: Work directly with presenters during live broadcasts, supporting them to deliver their best on air.

  • Creative Development: Generate original ideas that resonate with Smooth’s 40+ audience across on-air, digital, and social platforms.

  • Audience Growth: Bring inventive approaches to deepening listener engagement and attracting new audiences.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Digital, Commercial, Music, and Branded Content teams to deliver cohesive content.

  • Technical Operation: Operate a live studio desk confidently and edit audio using software such as Adobe Audition.

What Success Looks Like

 

In your first few months, you’ll have:

  • Built strong relationships with Smooth’s presenters and production teams.

  • Delivered consistently high-quality content across weekend and weekday shows.

  • Contributed fresh, audience-focused ideas to Smooth’s content calendar.

  • Worked effectively with Digital, Music, Commercial, and Branded Content teams.

  • Demonstrated a deep understanding of Smooth’s brand and its 40+ audience.

  • Helped bring standout moments to air that keep listeners with us for longer.

 

What You’ll Need

  • Radio / Broadcast Experience: At least three years’ experience in radio, audio production, or a similar content role.

  • Studio & Editing Skills: Ability to operate a live studio desk and use Adobe Audition or similar software.

  • Presenter Management: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to bring out the best in on-air talent.

  • Audience Insight: Understanding of what connects with a 40+ mass-market audience.

  • Creativity & Editorial Judgment: The flair to craft engaging, high-quality content that feels distinctively Smooth.

  • Music Knowledge: Appreciation for the music Smooth plays, with awareness of broader cultural trends.

  • Multitasking Ability: Confidence managing multiple tasks and tight deadlines within a small, busy team.

  • Proactive Mindset: A solutions-focused approach with a drive to deliver standout work.
