The Nexperia European Purchasing team is seeking a driven and dedicated Procurement Specialist with a focus on Direct materials (Specialist chemicals and gases) used during the manufacturing process for sites based in the UK and Germany. This position will provide you with the opportunity to work with varying stakeholders in the Production, Engineering, Environmental and Quality teams across both sites whilst building effective relationships with global suppliers.

What you will do:

As a Procurement Specialist for Direct manufacturing materials, you will work on a Hybrid basis at one of our front-end manufacturing sites in either Manchester UK or Hamburg Germany. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that procurement processes, controls and supplier management activities operate effectively and efficiently. You will support both local and global sourcing initiatives, driving cost optimisation, supplier performance and overall strategic procurement execution. Being part of a global company, you will also get the chance to support Global Sourcing Managers in the implementation of commodity sourcing strategies on site, enhancing your development pathways at Nexperia.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Sourcing & Supplier Management

  • Identify, assess, and onboard suppliers to support operational and development needs.

  • Support Global Sourcing Managers with the negotiation and procurement of BOM materials, including metal commodities, and ensure effective implementation of POs, consignment, and contracts.

  • Manage supplier performance across quality, cost, delivery, technology, and service to maintain a high‑performing, competitive supply base.

  • Ensure continuous supply is maintained into the Sites

Strategic Procurement & Market Insight

  • Contribute to the execution of commodity sourcing strategies at site level, ensuring alignment with global procurement objectives.

  • Conduct market research and analyse spend categories to inform negotiation strategies and drive value creation.

  • Provide commercial insights to stakeholders, ensuring requirements are met while maintaining a competitive sourcing environment.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Project Delivery

  • Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, and Production teams to deliver annual cost‑reduction and sourcing project targets.

  • Support project management activities, including supplier onboarding, qualification sample coordination, and new development communication.

  • Ensure effective alignment between suppliers and internal teams to support operational and development programmes.

Process Ownership & Continuous Improvement

  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of efficient end‑to‑end procurement processes and strong internal controls.

  • Benchmark procurement practices against industry leaders and drive strategic initiatives to achieve operational excellence.

What you will need 

Essential requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related field

  • Minimum 3 years’ procurement experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment with direct materials

  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship‑building skills

  • Confident analysing and presenting numerical data, with strong problem‑solving ability

  • Effective communicator with excellent English skills and the ability to collaborate across countries and time zones

  • Skilled in SAP, Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools

  • Able to prioritise, adapt quickly, and work with urgency in a fast‑paced environment

  • Experience in process improvement, change management, and driving cross‑functional collaboration.

Desirable experience:

  • Exposure to the Semiconductor Industry

  • Experience working with chemicals, gases or technical procurement
