This hybrid position will be based in our London office. At Wayfair, hybrid for enterprise employees requires a commitment to be in the office Monday through Thursday, with Fridays remote.

We are looking for a highly motivated Privacy Operations Team Lead to support our dynamic global business. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role that will directly contribute to global privacy initiatives and help to ensure Wayfair’s privacy program aligns with new and evolving privacy obligations. Day-to-day, this includes tasks such as supporting data mapping and data governance efforts; conducting PIAs and related assessments and advising business stakeholders on privacy compliance matters while also leading and providing guidance to a team of Privacy Analysts. As part of a small team where all members contribute at every level, the ideal candidate must be able to think creatively, provide solution-oriented advice and develop a mastery of both the big and small picture while being offered ample opportunity for growth and personal development.

What You'll Do

  • Support and manage our efforts to align with all relevant privacy and data protection laws in assigned jurisdictions (e.g., EU, US, Canada, UK, China, and India).
  • Stay abreast of privacy regulations, standards and industry best practices and continuously evolve team SOPs to meet up to date requirements
  • Identify, manage and document global privacy requirements through assessments and audits. 
  • Manage privacy team personnel responsible for carrying out business process assessments, data mapping and inventories, and other privacy initiatives.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the privacy program by identifying and defining areas for improvement, conducting gap analyses to mitigate privacy risk across the company.
  • Execute projects and support initiatives aimed at increasing privacy awareness including training initiatives as well as promote privacy by design across various different areas of the business. 

What You'll Need

Required Qualifications

  • 2-3  years of privacy operations, compliance or legal experience with knowledge of global privacy laws including GDPR, CCPA and PIPEDA and related operational privacy procedures.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Excellent analytical, writing and communication skills.
  • Experience managing and executing projects end-to-end including advanced problem-solving and communicating recommendations.
  • Highly effective, business-friendly and persuasive communication skills including excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills. 
  • Embraces challenging situations with a solutions-oriented mindset; able to quickly build trust with stakeholders.
  • Organized and able to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced, ambiguous and changing environment.
  • Self-motivated to seek out challenges and tenacious in pursuit of excellent outcomes; willing to roll-up sleeves, pitch-in and tackle problems of all shapes and sizes. 

Additional Qualifications (not Required)

  • Certification related to Privacy and Data Protection (e.g., International Association of Privacy Professionals certifications).
  • Experience with data mapping software.
  • Experience managing privacy team personnel and providing a productive, collaborative and motivating work environment.
