We are seeking a Principal Software Development Engineer to join our expanding investment into Amex GBT Hotel Growth Initiative.  Amex GBT is a place where colleagues find inspiration in travel as a force for good and – through their work – can make an impact on our industry.  We’re here to help our colleagues achieve success and offer an inclusive and collaborative culture where your voice is valued.  You will be tasked in designing and aligning future technology across Hotel products at Amex GBT.  Join us if you want to contribute to Amex GBT’s Hotel Growth Initiative.

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

  • Build relationships with leaders across the organization to understand business problems and drive scalable technology solutions
  • Participates in the Architecture assessment and design for infrastructure of Amex GBT’s Hotel products
  • Understanding of systems across Amex GBT and how Hotel business unit would integrate with them 
  • Influences new technology choices to senior technology and Amex GBT leadership
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of current and planned north star architecture 
  • Applies an Amex GBT wide view to support the adoption of standards and practices and promote reuse of Supply Marketplace platform

WHO YOU ARE: 

  • Bachelor's / Master’s in Computer Science or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience
  • 12+ years of developing and delivering highly available enterprise web applications on Java and .NET platforms, 5+ years in technical leadership role
  • Leader innovating, architecting, implementing tools and products that increase productivity, reliability, and quality of our applications
  • Experience influencing architectural decisions across multiple business units
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in documenting architecture, designs, and action plans 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external teams that include business partners and third-party vendors. 
  • Knowledge of industry standards and leading-edge technologies that benefit organizational goals
  • Experience mentoring Senior Engineers 
  • Travel domain knowledge is a plus
