A Day in the LifeWorking in the Procurement and Supplier Management (PSM) team within IHS (Integrated Health Solution) Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) you will focus primarily on UK market, supporting the sourcing of medical products and services into the IHS Managed Cath Labs and Theatres.
In this role, you will manage strategic sourcing and address operational issues. This role will also require you to work closely with the hospitals we support as well as a selection of IHS strategic suppliers, including those that compete directly with Medtronic in the medical device business. This is a remote role, based in the UK, with the ability to work from home and a willingness to travel (approximately 25%), typically in the London area but could include international travel.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Manage internal relationships with stakeholders and ensure that needs are consistently met, which includes ensuring on-time activation of new accounts, ensuring IHS is able to procure our client’s preferred products, and maintaining price lists
  • Negotiate, maintain, and analyse pricing
  • Establish sourcing strategies for each market, balancing an optimal mix of the best price, switching to consignment, negotiating return policies, securing allocation of stock, etc
  • Management of supplier relationships—ensuring continuity of supply for our IHS managed service accounts
  • Identify saving initiatives that go beyond unit price reduction.
  • Be the point of contact for issues concerning product sourcing, including preparing effective presentations and presenting the data
  • Regular interaction with and visiting of customers to consult with customers to discuss clinical strategy and how materials management services can support the department's strategic direction

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree requiring numerate skills, such as business, science, or economics
  • High level of data analysis skills (including very strong Excel skills) as well as the ability to prepare effective data presentations (Power Point)
  • Contract management/sourcing experience 
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills (in English) with the ability to liaise, influence, and negotiate effectively at all levels
  • Previous hospital procurement experience is a plus, ideally in a Cath lab or Theatre environment and ideally exposed to the National Healthcare System Supply Chain (NHS SC) environment
  • Previous Finished Sourcing (OEM- Original Equipment Manufacturer) procurement experience is a plus
