Job Description
We are looking for a Principal Flood Risk Consultant to join our growing Water Environment team, in the Regulations and Development sector. As a Principal Flood Risk Consultant you will lead the production of flood risk consenting related documents for our major clients, and manage a small but growing team in the Croydon office.
Role responsibilities:
- Contribute to tenders for complex, high-profile projects and lead the production of flood risk assessments, permits, Section 19 reports, and water resource chapters for EIAs.
- Collaborate with clients and technical teams on fluvial, coastal, surface water, and drainage flood risk management projects.
- Build relationships with clients and cross-functional teams.
- Lead flood risk appraisals and business cases for public and private sector clients.
- Stay updated on relevant legislation and guidelines to ensure work is compliant and high quality.
- Use AECOM’s project management systems to deliver quality outputs on time and within budget.
- Manage team resourcing, development, and performance in collaboration with the regional lead.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences or a related discipline.
- Significant experience technically leading teams in the production of flood risk assessments and/or flood risk activity permits.
- Strong track record of project management, following the principles of the NEC suite of contracts.
- Experience and understanding of hydraulic modelling as an evidence base to flood risk assessments / activity permits.
- FCERM appraisal and EIA experience would be beneficial, but not essential
- Professional chartered member of CIWEM or ICE.
