About You:

You are a motivated and adaptable professional with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for using technology to solve real-world problems. With strong communication skills and a consultative approach, you’re comfortable engaging with clients, understanding their needs, and translating them into effective outcomes. 

The Role: 

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Software Engineering Practice as a Principal Engineer, specialising in Java.  As a Principal Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of driving innovation, leading technical teams, and shaping cutting-edge solutions. If you're passionate about technical leadership, software architecture, and making a real impact, this could be the perfect fit for you! 


Requirements

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Working across the full lifecycle from requirement gathering and design, through to coding and into testing, deployment and maintenance.
  • Liaising with management and stakeholders on client requirements and understanding team objectives.
  • As a consultant with Solirius you will have exposure to a variety of projects and challenges
  • Championing and contributing towards engineering best practices across our team and projects.
  • Identifying/creating ideas for technical solutions
  • Providing feedback to project teams on progress/outcomes
  • Advise developers on technical decisions

Key Skills/Experience: 

You need to be technically sound but also be able to convey your knowledge and expertise to clients internally and externally. In terms of specific languages you should have commercial experience in some or all of the following;

  • Proven experience in technical leadership.
  • Expertise in software architecture and design.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Agile methodologies
  • A passion for innovation and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Substantial experience as a hands-on Java Engineer
  • Ability to advocate Java/Coding principles, practices and philosophy 
  • Ability to communicate your design, both verbally and in written form
  • Ability to work with senior stakeholders and detailed technical specialists
  • Beneficial to have worked within the Government previously or Public Sector
