Lead and organise electrical engineering delivery across rail, tunnel, power and construction projects. Job Description
VVB Engineering provide Mechanical and Electrical Installation solutions for a variety of industries, including Rail, Tunnel, Power and Utilities and Construction. We are currently recruiting for Principal Electrical Engineer responsible for the deployment and organisation of the Electrical Engineers. You will advise the business on Engineering legislation and compliance as well as managing all aspects of electrical works.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage VVB's safe system of works and Electrical rules in-line with current legislation
- Assume the role of lead Engineer in the execution of specific tasks
- Be the technical lead representative at project and progress meetings within clients
- Work in a collaborative approach with internal and external stakeholders on lessons learnt and moving forward
- Work in conjunction with the bid team, to review proposals and scope documents for tenders
- Review and verify design documentation up to 33KV level
- Ensure design risk assessment process is complaint with legal and construction parameters
- Ensure risks, safety, health, environmental and commercial are designed in line with principles
- Provide engineering solutions to project problems, to satisfy clients expectations, project restrictions and budget constraints
- Undertake site visits, report and advise on technical, environmental and H&S issues
- Liaise with the installation teams to ensure design suitability, work methodologies and provide solutions on installation problems
- Ensure appropriate certifications and reports are issues for completed electrical works
- Support procurement with reviewing the electrical supply chain
- Work with procurement to determine product suitability with manufacturers
- Attend FAT and SAT meetings
- Mentor Engineering Graduates and Apprentices and support HR with the development of these programmes
- Review and develop electrical personnel qualifications and competencies
What we're looking for:
- Minimum of 10 years experience within Electrical Engineering
- Previous experience within Low to Medium Voltage Electrical Equipment
- Previous experience within a M&E contractor and/or design house
- Previously worked within the infrastructure environment
- HNC and/or HND
- Engineering Council Registration with preference as Chartered
- Registered member of either CIBSE or IET or other recognised Engineering Council institutions
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- Full UK drivers license
- Proven track record of delivering Mechanical/ Electrical, process design projects within budget and to programme in a design and built environment
- Knowledge of relevant electrical installations legislations and standards, BIM and design modelling standards
- Experience and detailed knowledge of SHE requirements, relating to the Electricity at Work Act
- Ability to instruct and lead teams in producing design deliverables to a high standard
- Collaborative approach
- Adept in MS Office packages, including Excel, Word and Powerpoint
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Flexible approach, with the willing to travel nationally and work unsociable hours
- Establish good working relationships at all levels
