What we are looking for

A Principal Consultant (Sustainability Communications) with experience in Corporate Communications to driving commercial growth, managing high-performing teams, helping clients succeed, and delivering an exciting mix of impact comms projects for clients across multiple sectors.

About us

Here at Seismic we have a two-part vision: to help 10 million people join the shift by 2030 and to be the best place we have ever worked.

We know that’s an ambitious vision. That means challenging ourselves and our clients every day, striving for growth, and delivering real impact. You can see more about our mission in our CEO’s TEDx talk, “The purpose of profit: the business of securing a sustainable future.

We foster a culture of continuous learning and mutual support, ensuring every changemaker feels empowered to grow and contribute their best.

We are not just talking about change; we are actively driving it. We ourselves are a B Corp and our team of B Corp, Net Zero, Reporting and Sustainability Comms experts collaborate to deliver measurable impact for clients ranging from innovative SMEs to global corporations. You can read some of their stories here.

We’re a close-knit team, working together towards a shared vision. All that’s missing is you!

The role and its responsibilities

We are looking for a Principal Communications Consultant to act as a strategic powerhouse within our Comms team. You won't just be executing tasks; you will be owning the commercial success of the service line and the professional growth of the people within it.
The exact role definition will be dependent on the desire, capability and experiences of the right person. Key responsibilities are likely to include:

  • Leading the strategy, growth objectives, and delivery capabilities of our Sustainability Communications Service.

  • Growing the brand recognition of Seismic’s comms work through thought-leadership and personal and team profile-building.

  • Identifying and winning business by bringing in new clients and growing existing clients.

  • Leading and mentoring a high-performance comms team; fostering a culture of continuous learning to ensure our communications delivery remains best-in-class.

  • Leading service development, process improvement and optimisation within our comms service line.

  • Leading the end-to-end delivery of integrated sustainability communications for clients, from facilitating senior leadership messaging workshops and B Corp engagement strategies to overseeing the production and writing of inspiring Impact Reports, multi-channel creative content, thought leadership and high-level media relations.

  • Helping clients navigate the complex landscape of sustainability communications, ensuring their narratives are both ambitious,evidence-based and avoid greenwashing.

About you

You believe that humanity and businesses need to make a seismic shift in the right direction and want to apply your communications capabilities to help make that happen. At the same time you want to work in a friendly, collaborative and empathetic team who are delivering impactful projects for high-profile clients. You will especially enjoy working at Seismic if you have a growth mindset and are comfortable with uncertainty, as we are a fast-growing, agile and evolving business.

To be successful in this role you would need the following attributes:

  • Have successfully supported or led a commercial sustainability communications service offering within an agency environment.

  • Have a track record of securing new business and managing a sales target.

  • You are passionate about impact and have proven experience helping organisations set strategies across sustainability topics (e.g., B Corp, Net Zero, DEI), though you may have a background or experience working in PR or Marketing.

  • Have a deep understanding of clients’ commercial and impact visions.

  • You have direct line management experience and have ideally led and developed teams and managed third-party agencies.

  • You are a master copywriter who can distill complex information into engaging content, and understand how to project manage a design process

Importantly, you love client work and also working with teammates to build something great. You like a laugh but are not afraid to graft. You have plenty to offer, and know you have even more to learn.

You are proactive, have a keen eye for detail and enjoy juggling multiple projects and priorities and enjoy just the right amount of time pressure to help keep productive and focused. You are a ‘people person’ with a knack for building relationships.

You are more excited by the opportunities of working for a young, fast growing, ever evolving, purpose-driven business than for a large corporate.

You are excited by the opportunity of joining a high-performance team within a fast-growing, ever-evolving, purpose-driven business. Find out more about the team here: https://www.seismic-change.com/team/.
In your first 100 days you will:

  • Be paired with a dedicated guide and mentor to accelerate your integration and professional development.

  • Go through our onboarding programme with training across all our sustainability services

  • Join our fortnightly Personal Growth sessions and Friday checkout

Location

Ideally you will be within commuting distance of our London office, attending the office (Waterloo) at least twice per week.

Working hours

We believe in flexible working hours to better suit our personal lives while being considerate of each other and our clients. We generally work office hours but trust each other to make fair decisions. We are also open to discussing part-time work arrangements.

Salary and benefits

We invest in our changemakers’ growth and well-being. Our comprehensive benefits package is designed to support your professional development, personal life, and overall health. In addition to a competitive salary (commensurate with experience), benefits include:

  • 25 days annual leave per year pro-rata
