Position Title:    Principal Architect (Ref. 8939938)

Job Description:

Design, develop, and maintain the target application architecture and assess the impact of the future business architecture on existing and future applications within Merchandising Portfolio. Translate detailed business and technical requirements into high-performing, reliable conceptual roadmaps and solutions that meet business needs; understand Retail Merchandising systems and information flow. Work with the development and Production support teams to provide design guidelines and impart knowledge on technical trends and solutions. Build deep understanding of the applications within a specific business domain (Merchandising) and assess how IT solutions align/fit within the broader enterprise architecture. Work with Solution Delivery Lead, Business Delivery Services and Solution/Business Architect to review business drivers, needs and strategies and understand implications. Provide technical guidance and oversight to delivery team. Capture the requirements for future application architecture changes and identifies the techniques and technologies that should be applied at the application level. Provide significant input into solution design process for all applications within their respective business domain. Request exceptions to the referential architecture that are identified as necessary to meet business need due to functionality, timeline, cost, or technical feasibility. Identify the hardware and software components the application will use for implementation and provide instruction on how to appropriately implement application components using the respective hardware / software and working alongside their Infrastructure Architecture peers. Provide support and guidance to the development teams during the analysis, development and testing processes on functional and non-functional aspects. Create project and application architecture deliverables consistent with technology and established ADL standards, methodologies, and best practices. Create and maintain application portfolio currency roadmaps partnering with Delivery and Infrastructure teams. Collaborate with Program and Project managers and QA and Testers to ensure the integrity of a deliverable in standards and quality are upheld. Work with Enterprise Architects to align domain-specific solutions with enterprise architecture standards and processes; understand surrounding solutions and enterprise information flow. Position is fixed location based in Marlborough, MA office; however, telecommuting from a home office may also be allowed.

Job Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a directly related field plus five (5) years of IT experience. Experience must include:

Five (5) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

  • Experience in implementation/consulting/architecture for Retail Merchandising Systems (Oracle Retail)
  • Architecting complex enterprise solutions that meet requirements for operational stability and align with Enterprise standards
  • Setting strategic direction for critical enterprise applications.
  • Collaborating with and influencing stakeholders outside of core Architecture function and to drive alignment to strategic and architectural direction.

40 hours/week, 9:00am-5:00pm, Salary: $217,361/year.
