Role summary
Ozone API is seeking an experienced API Architect to join our dynamic team. The Principal Architect will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of open banking and open finance APIs around the world.
The position, based in the UK, will report to the CTO with a dotted line reporting into the Head of Standards. It will involve some travel for on-site client engagements in regions such as MENA, APAC, North America, and LATAM.
The successful candidate will leverage their extensive API technology expertise to contribute to the creation of world-class API standards and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities
API Specification Development:
- Develop API specifications for diverse open banking, open finance, and open data use cases.
- Interpret and adapt global best practices to create comprehensive standards.
API Security Model Definition:
- Define API security models based on the OpenID Foundation's FAPI profile.
- Ensure robust and effective security measures in compliance with industry standards.
Consent Model Development:
- Create scalable and flexible consent models for data sharing and service initiation.
- Address a wide array of open finance and embedded finance use cases.
OpenAI Specification Writing:
- Write OpenAI specifications to articulate API endpoints, data models, and state models.
- Ensure clarity and precision in documentation for seamless implementation.
API Solution Delivery
- Use the Ozone API Platform to create end-to-end implementations of open finance standards.
- Work with the engineering, QA and product team to deliver complex changes to the Ozone API Platform
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with internal teams, contractors, trade bodies, standards bodies, partners, and customers (including banks and central banks/regulators).
- Collaborate to deliver high-quality API standards that meet the needs of the industry.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years in API technologies.
- Proven track record in developing standards and specifications in open banking and open finance.
Technical Expertise:
- In-depth understanding of RESTful APIs and related standards such as JSON and OAS3.
- In-depth understanding of JWT and related standards
- Familiarity with ISO messaging standards in both payment and insurance sectors.
Implementation Skills
- Excellent working knowledge of typescript, javascript and MongoDB.
- Ability to work with CI/CD pipelines, bash, docker and k8s.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management skills for effective collaboration.
Industry Knowledge:
- Detailed understanding of both payment and insurance sectors.
Travel:
- Willingness to travel for on-site client engagements in various regions.
