Job Summary

Barings is seeking a motivated individual with strong analytical skills and a strong attention to detail for the European Pricing/Valuation team. This individual will be responsible for key components of our diverse asset type valuations, including fixed income, equity, and private assets.

The role requires working directly across global departments within Barings, including traders, investment analysts, portfolio managers, fund accountants and other areas with operations. This position also includes review of Fair Value and Swing Pricing calculations prepared by team members.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the Fair Valuation of Barings invested securities and the adherence to the Barings Pricing Policy
  • Preparing daily fair valuation instructions to the third party administrator
  • Pricing and monitoring of unlisted, illiquid, suspended, and distressed assets.
  • Calculating Swing Pricing factors and thresholds, and ensuring adherence to the Swing Pricing policies and procedures
  • Regular reporting to the Barings Pricing Committee, including attending and presenting at Committee meetings
  • Checking and verifying of team members’ inputs
  • Responding to global internal business partners as well as fund custodians and administrators.
  • Reviewing daily exception reports, validating output and overall review for accuracy. Team plays an integral role within the organization interacting with internal partners, portfolio managers, and trading desks.

Skills/Experience Required

  • Familiarity with a broad range of asset types
  • Fund Administration/Operations experience - Valuations related exposure a plus
  • Good understanding of global financial markets and current events
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently as well as on a team
  • Strong initiative, high attention to detail, and ability to respond quickly to issues are attributes a candidate must possess.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Skills and experience using SQL, PowerBI, Aladdin, and VBA
  • IOC / IMC qualified or similar
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Swing Pricing and Fair Value experience
