The opportunity

We're currently looking for an interim PR Manager UK for a fixed contract period of 12 months. Someone to join our UK Public Relations and Communications team to continue building the Polestar brand in the UK. Someone with a passion for media relations, electric mobility, an interest in technology, and a desire to create the change we know is needed.

This role is offered on a fixed-term basis for 12 months to provide cover during an employee's internal secondment. The appointment is linked to the secondment and will end upon the substantive postholder's return to the role.

The Polestar UK PR team is small but hardworking punching above its weight in terms of coverage and positive tonality. This position is located in Bicester, Oxfordshire. There is potential for wider travel as part of the role, but usually you will work three days a week in the office at Bicester with optional working from home for the other two. We believe in a hybrid model when it comes to remote and onsite work, knowing that both in-person collaboration and individual time to focus are needed. What matters most is that people get the time, and support, to do what needs to be done. And to enjoy doing it, of course.

The responsibilities

In this role, you'll be expected to deliver the PR strategy to promote the Polestar brand in the UK which includes general day-to-day liaison with a wide range of media in automotive, tech, corporate news and lifestyle, prepare and deliver industry leading events and launches, and administer and nurture new and existing partnerships, all to deliver tangible uplift in brand awareness, coverage and tonality. You'll be responsible for:

  • Day to day liaison with all types of media as well as HQ PR teams

  • Management of third-party agencies including a corporate PR agency, lifestyle PR consultant and PR event teams

  • Execute PR strategy

  • New model media launches

  • Story creation and ideas generation

  • Partnerships management

  • Management of internal communications to a team of 100

  • Budget, press fleet and day to day operations supported by intern

  • The role has one direct report supported by the Head of PR

The ideal candidate

In order to succeed in this role, and at Polestar in general, there are a few characteristics you'll need to have. Tenacity. Flexibility. Curiosity. The ability to take the initiative, to meet deadlines and requirements, and to abandon ideas when they're not feasible.

The role will require someone who is a self-starter but able to work well within a team, familiar with how the automotive PR industry works, but not someone shy to challenge the norms of the industry and try something different. Someone who is passionate about making a difference when it comes to sustainability and promoting the climate solutions which are in place. Healthy media relations and proactive communications are essential to drive conversations and ultimately coverage.

In addition, you'll need the following qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of automotive PR experience with sound established media relations

  • Creative mindset with a good eye for a story

  • Excellent writing skills, telephone manner, budget management and project management skills

  • Proven reputation in the industry with respect from industry peers

  • Fluent in English

Polestar is an international company, with various backgrounds represented. English, therefore, is the language of written and spoken communication. And though we have a global presence, we maintain the growth-mindset. Change happens often at Polestar. But so does progress. Expect an accelerating, exciting environment.

The process

If the above matches your ambitions, be sure to apply. Our selection process is ongoing, and the job advert will remain open until it’s filled.

The Polestar journey is an electric one.
