Core Tasks

1. Media Relations & Pitching

  • Pitch CMC products, articles, research and thought leadership to journalists

  • Secure CMC quotes/commentary in news pieces, especially around market, macro and crypto trends

  • Position CMC data as a go-to source for reporters (price action, market caps, trend data)

  • Track macro/market news daily to spot reactive ("newsjacking") opportunities

  • Build and maintain media lists and a contacts database/CRM

2. Events & Speaking

  • Identify and pitch CMC spokespeople for speaker slots at conferences and side events

  • Track relevant event calendars and submission deadlines

  • Support logistics and briefing for confirmed speaking engagements

3. Podcasts, TV & Online Presence

  • Pitch CMC for podcast appearances, TV interviews and online features

  • Target tier-1 (Bloomberg, CNBC), crypto-native (CoinDesk, Decrypt) and independent shows

  • Build relationships with bookers/producers

4. Other tasks
  • Press releases & announcements — drafting/editing releases, managing distribution, embargoes, and the press inbox/inbound inquiries

  • Data storytelling — turning CMC's proprietary data into pitchable stories, reports and data points (a big differentiator for a data company)

  • Coverage tracking & reporting — monitoring mentions, building clip reports, share-of-voice, and basic KPI reporting

  • Spokesperson support — prepping talking points, briefing docs, Q&A prep

  • Awards & rankings — identifying and submitting nominations

  • Cross-team coordination — working with marketing, social, research and product; amplifying earned media on social

  • Crisis/reactive comms support — assisting senior staff on sensitive/breaking issues

Requirements
  • ~1–2 years in PR, comms, journalism or media (agency or in-house)

  • Strong written English; able to draft pitches and releases quickly

  • Genuine interest in crypto/Web3, fintech and markets

  • Comfortable tracking news and working at the pace of a 24/7 market

  • Organized, proactive, able to juggle multiple pitches/deadlines

  • Nice-to-have: existing media/podcast contacts, additional languages, data literacy

  • Remote working
