As a global market leader, we’ll give you what you need to make it happen. It won’t always be easy, growing takes grit. But at ABB, you’ll never run alone. Run what runs the world.

This Position reports to:

Engineering Manager

Your role and responsibilities

Are you an experienced power system specialist with a passion for renewable energy integration and a drive to lead complex electrical studies? If you're ready to take the technical lead in integrating tomorrow’s solutions into the power grid, this could be your next challenge.

As our Power System Study Lead, you’ll be responsible for guiding advanced electrical studies that ensure grid compliance and support the integration of large-scale renewable energy projects. You’ll work across technologies including wind, solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and emerging Power-to-X (PtX) solutions – often in hybrid configurations.

You’ll lead study activities, mentor engineers, and act as a key technical interface with stakeholders such as TSOs, developers, and internal project teams. Your insights will help shape grid connection strategies and strengthen our modeling and compliance frameworks.

We are looking for a person who is outgoing, approachable, and skilled at building strong relationships with customers and partners. You have your primary experience from the business sector and proven expertise in leading and developing technical teams. If you thrive in a technically demanding environment and enjoy driving innovation in power system studies, we’d love to hear from you.

Team dynamic

You’ll be joining a collaborative and technically strong team where curiosity, knowledge-sharing, and continuous improvement are core values. As the Power System Study Lead, you’ll work closely with other engineers and project stakeholders, providing technical direction and ensuring high-quality study outcomes.

We value a team culture built on trust, humor, and mutual support - where leadership is about enabling others and delivering results together.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct power system studies including load flow, short-circuit, harmonic analysis, dynamic simulations (RMS), and transient studies (EMT)

  • Define study scopes and methodologies for grid compliance assessments of renewable energy and hybrid projects

  • Act as technical lead in stakeholder engagements with TSOs, developers, and internal teams

  • Develop, maintain and validate models in tools such as PSCAD and DIgSILENT PowerFactory

  • Review and contribute to technical reports, grid connection applications, and study documentation

  • Mentor and support younger engineers in study execution and technical development

  • Drive continuous improvement in modeling practices, study workflows, and compliance strategies

  • Support sales initiatives by engaging customers and providing accurate resources and timeline estimates

Qualifications for the role

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field

  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience in power system analysis, grid compliance, or renewable integration

  • Deep proficiency in simulation tools such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory and PSCAD

  • Extensive experience conducting RMS, EMT, and other Grid Compliance studies in accordance with Energinet's grid code requirements

  • Experience with Python scripting and model integration (FMU, .dll, DSL/DPL)

  • Proven ability to lead technical workstreams and mentor others

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Structured, analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving
