Role Overview

The Portfolio Director is a senior leadership role responsible for the commercial and strategic success of a portfolio of market-leading events, including LAMMA, one of Europe’s largest agricultural machinery exhibitions. The role holds full P&L ownership and is responsible for accelerating growth through new business development, product innovation and high-performance team leadership. This role suits someone who thrives in a high-performance culture and target-driven environment. The role leads cross-functional teams across sales, marketing, operations and content, ensuring each event delivers strong commercial performance and exceptional customer experience.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Own and deliver full portfolio P&L performance, including revenue, profit and margin targets.
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Drive commercial growth through new revenue streams, pricing strategy, floorplan optimisation and cost management.
  • Define and execute long-term growth strategies for each event within the portfolio.
  • Identify and validate new event launches, market extensions and geographic expansion opportunities.
  • Use market research, competitor insight and customer intelligence to ensure events remain relevant and competitive.
  • Lead and implement the commercial strategy across exhibition sales, sponsorship and partnerships.
  • Build strong pipelines with a focus on new business acquisition.
  • Personally manage strategic partners and major industry accounts.
  • Oversee integrated marketing and audience development strategies.
  • Ensure effective use of data, CRM and digital channels to maximise exhibitor ROI and visitor engagement.
  • Build and lead high-performing teams
  • Set clear KPIs, incentives and performance expectations.
  • Foster a high-performance culture through coaching, accountability and proactive performance management.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in exhibition portfolio management across multiple events
  • Proven commercial leadership with full P&L ownership
  • Track record of delivering revenue growth and launching new products or events
  • Experience leading and developing teams
  • Strong strategic thinking combined with hands-on delivery
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  • Data-led decision making with strong forecasting discipline
  • Experience working with CRM systems (Salesforce desirable)
