ROLE OVERVIEW
The Polish Linguist manages translation and copy-editing activities, ensuring high-quality linguistic deliverables across assigned projects or client accounts. The role involves coordinating with freelance linguists and external agencies, maintaining and developing language resources, resolving terminology queries, and collaborating with clients and internal teams to support efficient, streamlined workflows.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performing copy-editing and on-demand translation tasks on assigned projects or accounts
- Performing lead support on assigned projects or accounts
- Managing and maintaining the language materials (including glossaries, style guides, and work instructions) up to the quality standards and up to date as required by the account or project
- Managing project-related queries
- Ensuring good interaction among team members and resolving questions on terminology and language matters
- Testing and qualifying new freelancers and vendors as required
- Developing and training of internal linguists and external partners according to the accounts and Welocalize’s needs
- Interacting with clients on linguistic matters as required
- Participating in the development of new and improved working processes
- Meeting or exceeding the KPIs in terms of productivity, on time delivery, and quality
- Achieving the goals set by the team manager
REQUIREMENTS
- Education Level: University degree in Translation, Applied Languages, Linguistic Studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., a university degree in another discipline plus two years of full-time translation experience, or five years of full-time professional translation experience).
- Native-level fluency in Polish
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, across a variety of registers
- 4+ years of experience in translation, localization, editing, or content writing
- 2+ years of review experience
- Thorough understanding of the localization process
- Excellent knowledge of terminology in two or more subject areas (ideally in Life Sciences and CRO/Pharma)
- Good user experience with standard software, such as Windows and Microsoft Office
- Hands-on experience with standard CAT tools (e.g., XTM, SDL Trados Studio) and issue tracking and query management tools (e.g., JIRA)
- Ability to quickly learn new localization tools and applications
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with tight deadlines
- Ability to provide clear, concise, and constructive feedback
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and linguists
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions in low-standardization environments
- Ability and willingness to train, teach, and mentor others
- Proven experience communicating positively with customers at various levels
- Ability to work effectively within a virtual team
