How you'll be contributing to Accurx as a Platform Engineering Manager...

Engineering Managers at Accurx are technologists who love helping teams solve customer problems. As EM of our Platform team you’ll lead the team that focusses on delivering the platform and infrastructure, allowing our engineers to deliver our Accurx products efficiently and reliably.

Collaborating with senior technical stakeholders in the business (including for instance engineering leadership, security and data, and principal engineers), you will get to know your users (engineers), and have a great understanding  of how the platform team brings value not only to the product engineering org but to the wider business. This will allow you to - working with the team - outline a strong vision for the roadmap of the Platform team.  You will guide and  influence the “Why” (our outcomes) and the “What” (our platform team roadmap), making sure that is well understood by your engineers.

You’ll have management responsibility for a team of engineers.

You will spend a lot of your time making the “What” a reality, by focusing on the “Who” and the “How”.

Your day to day tasks, should you choose to accept this mission 🤝...

  • Build a solid understanding of the systems your team owns and the broader technical estate.
  • Shape the team’s vision, goals, and priorities by collaborating with Engineering, Security, and Data teams.
  • Set the strategic direction of the team, leveraging both your technical expertise and the team’s knowledge, ensuring your team delivers on its goals and responsibilites
  • Represent the team’s decisions, trade-offs, and priorities to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Identify and address obstacles, ensuring commitments are met while communicating risks and mitigations to stakeholders.
  • Use data to monitor delivery flow and drive continuous improvement.
  • Promote healthy behaviours and practices that enhance team performance.
  • Oversee system telemetry, documentation, patching, and proactive infrastructure management.
  • Ensure a balanced approach to quality, tech debt, and roadmap delivery.
  • Support incident management and maintain system reliability.
  • Line manage and support engineers, understanding their strengths, growth areas, and aspirations.
  • Provide feedback, growth opportunities, and maintain high performance standards.

 What the team say ...

"I really enjoy the collective passion we have within Engineering Manager community to establish a high performing environment where all our engineers can learn, share and grow together. There is a fantastic mix of day to day responsibilities through to bigger long term projects that we are involved in which allows us to form strong relationships and have impact not just in engineering but across the organisation which I love." - Jamie, Engineering Manager
