First Orion UK Limited is a fast-growing, privately held company focused on eliminating scam and nuisance calls across telecommunications networks. Headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas (USA), First Orion is seeking a Platform Engineer based in the United Kingdom who will report to the Director, Solution Automation & Site Reliability
The Platform Engineer is a full-time, permanent employee position that will be responsible for developing and deploying cloud infrastructure to support various teams and projects. This person will use a combination of software and systems engineering principles to build cloud-based, high-performance systems that are scalable and resilient. They will work closely with the software engineering and operations teams to design, implement and test solutions for current and future products, and work with the product, QA teams and performance engineers to automate testing, improve performance and enhance monitoring and reporting. The engineer will identify opportunities to migrate legacy technologies and solutions to more efficient and automated platforms.

This is an individual contributor role with no direct people management responsibilities.
What you’ll be doing:
Design, develop and deliver cloud infrastructure through automation.
Provide pipelines to development and testing support for testing of new features.
Design, develop and automate environments that are secure, high performance, and fault tolerant.
Manage/resolve vulnerabilities in each environment according to standards.
Participate in the provisioning and deployment of First Orion applications, products, and services.
Contribute to advancing reliability and performance of the mobile, service and network architecture.
Maintain and monitor infrastructure and provide on call responses for issues in the production environment.
What you’ll need:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field of study.
Strong knowledge of AWS-based solution creation and related experience.
Knowledge of Infrastructure as code and experience with TerraForm, yaml or Ansible.
Knowledge of CI/CD/CT pipeline implementation and maintenance.
Knowledge of a modern scripting language, such as JavaScript, Python, Ruby or Go.
Knowledge of SQL database development, querying data, handling data, creating and designing data schemas or solutions.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Bonus Points:
Prior experience in telephony and communication industry.
Experience with container technology such as Docker or Kubernetes.
Knowledge of the Databricks platform or other data lakehouse technologies.
Linux administration skills and bash scripting.
Development experience with high-performance low-latency fault-tolerant systems.
AWS Certification
This role primarily follows UK business hours. Due to First Orion’s global operations, occasional early starts (as early as 6:00 AM UK time) are required to support overnight maintenance windows and service escalations aligned with US Central Time. There is an on-call rotation that takes place once per month. Business-hours escalations are supported through a shared resource model. The role is based in the United Kingdom. Salary will be of £30,800 – £54,100 depending upon experience.
