The Role

Our team is growing and we'd love you to grow with us. We're looking for a skilled and experienced Platform Engineer with expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join our engineering team.

You'll play a central role in designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure and platform services that enable our development teams to deploy, manage, and scale applications efficiently. Your contributions will help ensure the high availability, security, and performance of our platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bring technical expertise to automation engineering, coding, and architecture challenges

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure on GCP

  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment processes (GitHub Actions or GitLab ideal)

  • Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform

  • Partner closely with developers, data engineers, and product teams to understand and shape platform requirements

  • Create self-service tools and frameworks that enhance developer productivity

  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using tools like Stackdriver, Prometheus, or Grafana

  • Optimise system performance and ensure high availability through effective scaling strategies

  • Conduct root cause analysis for incidents and implement preventative measures

  • Embed security considerations early in the development process (Shift Left approach)

  • Ensure platform security through IAM policies, VPC design, and proper data encryption practices

  • Monitor and address vulnerabilities and security risks within the platform

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies

About You

  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Go, or Bash

  • Knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript would be a benefit

  • Proven experience as a Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or in a similar role

  • Strong expertise in GCP services - including Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Functions, BigQuery, and Cloud Storage

  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g. Terraform, Pulumi)

  • Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or ArgoCD

  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes, including networking (e.g. Istio, Traefik)

  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Stackdriver, Prometheus, or Grafana

  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and best practices

  • You do your best work as part of a team and enjoy sharing knowledge as much as gaining it

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and a fast-moving environment

  • Excellent written and verbal English skills

  • Collaborative and grounded - you value others' perspectives and create space for them

What You’ll Get

  • Private Health Care (Bupa)

  • Hybrid Working (3 days in office)

  • Travel Insurance

  • Competitive Base Salary

  • Company Bonus Scheme

  • Market-Leading Training Programme

  • Recognition & Reward Scheme

  • Annual Company Conference (previous destinations: Vienna, Bologna, Dubrovnik, Thessaloniki)

  • Regular Happy Hours & Team Lunches

  • Free Coffee, Drinks & Snacks
