We're looking for the second member of our Platform Engineering team to build, scale and own the infrastructure that powers Magentic's AI procurement solution. We have a very ambitious product vision, but we’re early in our building journey and are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to build a best in class infrastructure from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to join early enough to help build a high-quality rocket ship, rather than rebuild it in flight.

What You’ll Do
Design, build and own the cloud-native backbone that powers our AI agent workers at scale.
Shape a multi-tenant, multi-cloud platform (we deploy were our customers are) following IaC and GitOps best practices, while balancing speed, cost and security.
Work with the development team to design processes for secure software delivery (GitHub workflows, AI agent tooling for reviews, security and compliance)
Make our systems, both AI and non-AI, highly observable
Champion security, compliance and automation to turn them into an advantage, instead of friction
You Might Be a Great Fit if You
Have deep cloud mastery of Azure and/or AWS
Strong experience with containers and orchestration
Are an enthusiastic student/hobbyist of AI able to leverage agent-assisted development
Have managed production clusters at scale with IaC in security-certified companies
Have experience working with development teams to make their lives easier
Can take a loosely defined problem, sketch an architecture, and deliver a production-ready solution in days or weeks, not months
Have the experience to know what is needed now and what can come later
Can communicate clearly with both engineers and business stakeholders
Bonus Points
Experience designing self-hosted, cloud agnostic, AI/ML infrastructure
Infrastructure/platform experience in B2B settings, e.g.: Identity Federation

Our interview Process
There are a quite a few components because it's really important that both we and you have all the information to make a great decision at this stage of our journey. We can move quickly through these stages, so let us know if you have any timelines we need to meet.
Initial call (30 mins): this first step is an opportunity for you to hear more about Magentic and the role, and for us to learn more about your how your experience aligns with the role.
Design interview with the CTO or Founding Engineer (45-60 mins): in this step, we present you with real problems Magentic encounters, and we ask you to design a solution in a whiteboarding exercise.
Culture interview with the Chief of Staff (45 mins): here we'll talk about how you like to work, how you'd like to develop your career, and how that could look at Magentic.
In-person interview (half-day, paid): for the final step, we invite you to come meet the team in-person and work alongside us! We find this is the best way for candidates to get a sense of what working at Magentic is like.
CEO interview (30 mins): a chance for you to meet Robin, hear about his vision for the company
